What is SPF?
The sun protection factor, or SPF, is a multiplier that tells you how much longer you can stay in the sun than normal without burning your skin. If your child can tolerate 10 minutes in the sun without a burn, an SPF of 50 will provide 50 times that length of time, or 500 minutes of protection without burning.
What are UVA and UVB rays?
Both UVA and UVB rays cause damage to your skin. UVA rays are the main cause of skin aging and wrinkling, while UVB rays cause burning. Both contribute to the development of skin cancer. For the best protection, use a sunscreen with broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection.
It's cloudy outside--why does my child need sunscreen products?

How often should I reapply?

I use it on my kids, especially on their faces, and so far have had NO crying or tears at all.
I also recommend putting this on their arms and hands so that when they wipe their faces, they don't get tears.
The cheaper sunscreens (non tear free) we use on the body and legs.
I've even started using it for myself for when I'm swimming in the ocean and surfing. Nothing like burning sunscreen in the eyes to make you miss seeing waves.
PROS:
1. Tear free! It really works.
2. Because it works, you will put more sunscreen on your kids and your own face without fear of stinging and burning.
3. Bottle design makes it easy to get every last drop of sunscreen out of it.
Cons:
1. A little more expensive than non tear free versions of sunscreen.
2. Sand will stick to it (just like almost every other sunscreen made).
In fact, I had this problem years ago with a "normal", "generic" sunscreen, so this stuff isn't made any differently.
It does work well as a sunscreen, but make sure not to get any in your eyes !! (And my wife just chuckled. She's had the same problem.)
