5.0 out of 5 stars Dominoes with Letters.
Appletters is a fun letter game with a different challenge. We've been playing Bananagrams for a few months and wanted something new. 3.0 out of 5 stars I'd recommend Bananagrams over Appleletters
I'm a huge Bananagrams fan. Understandably the Bananagrams company was hoping to repeat their much deserved success with Appleletters, but it's not nearly as interesting or fun. As another reviewer mentioned, the apple is barely big enough to hold the letters without spilling when it's unzipped.

Appletters is a fun letter game with a different challenge. We've been playing Bananagrams for a few months and wanted something new. Appletters is different in that you can only connect to the first or last letter of the words made. The little zipper pouch seems durable enough and the tiles are extremely durable (double the thickness of Bananagram tiles). I recommend keeping the tiles from this game in a resealable bag, then place in apple pouch. Bananagram tiles don't fall out of the banana pouch as easily as these Appletter tiles do from the apple pouch. This does not detract from the game, just an observation.

We have been playing Bananagrams since purchasing it July 2009 and love it so much that we couldn't wait to get this game made by the people. It is so much fun, especially if you love spelling games. More fun than Scrabble and easier. Anyone can play, young and old. Very portable and durable! Appleletters has provided hours of fun for our family this winter!! I suggest both games!!

3.0 out of 5 stars OK game; not as fun as bananagrams and pairs, January 10, 2011

Appletters involves creating a snake of words; players must build off the first or last letter of one of the words in play, and must use the letter as the first or last letter in the new word. The part that makes this game fun is that you can replace a word that someone has already put down if you have a word with more letters. Of the three (bananagrams, pairs in pears, appletters), appletters is the simplest and best for children. I am in my late twenties and found it a bit boring. Also, it takes a long time to play, so I recommend putting a time limit on each person's turn. Overall, it's an OK game, just a bit too simple for my tastes. I like bananagrams much better, but this is good if you are looking for an easier version.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute, Got Great Potential, But It's Not Bananagrams!, November 2, 2010
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

Appleletters is very similar to Scrabble without the point values and without the board. The players take turns and build off each others words but in a snake pattern. Portabilitywise, Appleletters is great. I love the cute little Apple carrying case. But for off the charts fun and games, I still would choose Bananagrams hands down. Appleletters is quicker than Scrabble, and easier because you have more tiles to choose from. Kids would benefit especially if they are needing fun help in the spelling department. But again, if I had to choose I'd pick Bananagrams.

I was surprised at the different mindset to play this game compared to Bananagrams or Scrabble. Only being able to link to the beginning or ending of the word requires a different strategy. As a collector of word games, I was pleased to add this one to my collection. The apple bag is a gimmick, but it does look nice on the table in a fruit basket.

We loved Scrabble first and most, but Bananagrams became a favorite alternative. We decided to try Appletters this holiday, and it was enjoyed by all. Players must use different strategies than either Bananagrams or Scrabble, and the pace is slower than Bananagrams but faster than Scrabble. Fun for word game lovers.

This product has very good quality and all the letters well fit in the apple bag. The best advantage is that it is easy to carry around and play while waiting for dinner.

I bought this game after having purchased Bananagrams. I loved Bananagrams and thought this would be a good mix-up. Appletters is a fun game, but is more difficult than Banagrams and allows for only six people to play. Being a part of a seven-person family, this makes it difficult, but we play teams which makes it fun. This game is slower-paced without dragging on. I plan on purchasing PearsinPairs next.

There are many versions - using this concept - use letters to spell words. This is the second version (first was banaogram - which is the best) - this one is fun and good, but the banana is best!
