5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Line To Heaven, Indeed!, March 30, 2007
This review is from: Bananarama (Reis) (Audio CD)
This reissue is way better than the US reissue. This album is darker in theme than the debut, but still very poppy & infectious, Cruel Summer & Robert Deniro's Waiting are classics & rank among the best the girls have done. The album has been remastered and has many bonus tracks, all of which are rare and terrific. The girls have finally been recognised for their talent & gotten some respect. God bless Rhino Records.

Since back in the day in 1984 have loved Bananarama, especially this album. I really dig the bonus tracks included such as the Rough Justice single radio version, Cairo is really catchy also. The Wild Life is nice to finally have on cd, also Live Now a great song they execute so well, should have been on the album and released as a single. Most of all the song Through a Child's Eyes really shines remastered, such a beautiful, powerful song, I wish they would release this song, it is a hit. Who cares if it was done back in 1984, it sounds just as good today, it should be put on the next album they do, and released.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bonus track selection could have been better...., February 26, 2008

Great to have this album reissued, and to finally include Wild Life on it, but it's hard to believe they missed the opportunity to include 12" versions and opted for 7" versions instead! It would have been great to have the 12" versions of Cruel Summer, Robert DeNiro's Waiting, and the full version of State I'm In from the b-side of the "hot line to heaven" single. All of the reissues of Bananarama's catalog make it clear that fans hunger for bonus tracks, but there are still so many mixes of their songs that have failed to make it to CD at last.

I've been a Bananarama fan since the 80's. I had the album with "Through a Child's Eyes"....but had a hard time finding it on a CD....this one has it! Great tune! Brings back lots of memories.

5.0 out of 5 stars ALBUM THE TOP BANANNA!, September 28, 2011

They may have been the best group to come out of the 80's and their record sales backs it up.
this cd is so good from the first song to the last.I love cruel summer and rough justice also
dream baby and king of the jungle.Bananarama had such a clean pure original sound but like all groups in the music scene money, getting older and self-interest cuts a groups creative process short and banarama was no exception.WOW was their last great album after that they became generic sounding dance music machine every song sounding the same. It's sad siobhan left the group she was bannarama!I love keren and sara but their is something about siobhan!

OK, I got this as a bonus vinyl LP when I bought another album on Ebay. I didn't even play it for about 6 months. "Who the heck were Bananarama anyway?" I thought. But finally I checked it out, and now it's one of my favorite 80's albums!

Mmm, they've got it all together on this one. Songwriting, performances, and production are all fine, professional, even slick. But there's nothing canned about the songs here. Several are quite moving. Besides the well-known hits you will also get some sweet sleepers:

"Dream Baby" is a peppy, fiesty attitude dance you'll have in your head for about a week after buying this album.

"Robert DeNiro" is a bit haunting and mesmerizing.

This album is a treasure from a better time in music, when pop songs were about something other than violence, crime, guns, and drugs.
