5.0 out of 5 stars This bandage is the best!
Why is that?

- The fabric moves and stretches with you. Other bandages do not and pull off.
- The adhesive is strong. Albeit, I only use it on adults as it might be too strong for my kids.

3.0 out of 5 stars Big, stretchy, but not super-sticky.
The Band-Aid Tough Strips in extra large are really are extra large. They are 1.5" wide and nearly 4" long. The pad under the bandage is 1.25" wide and 1.75" long. As such, these bandages are good from large cuts on relatively flat parts of your body. You're not going to be wrapping one of these bad boys around a finger. The band-aids are made of gauze like material...

Why is that?

- The fabric moves and stretches with you. Other bandages do not and pull off.
- The adhesive is strong. Albeit, I only use it on adults as it might be too strong for my kids.
- The gauze is absorbent and does not stick to the wound.
- The fabric breaths. I stay away from the waterproof types under normal circumstances as I want the wound to also get some air.
- The bandage stays put. I put it on and never worry about it coming off before it is time to change it.

Foam bandages are a nice second place, especially for kids, but for an adult, there is no better bandage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for active people, April 2, 2011
This review is from: Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages, Tough-Strips, Extra Large (1.75-Inch Wide), 10-Count Bandages (Pack of 6) (Health and Beauty)
I am a serious runner (1200 miles a year) and occasionally take a spill when I am on an uneven surface. My knee recently got a large scrape that required an extra large bandage. I used this product for several reasons:

1. It is easy to apply ointment to this bandage, and easy to apply this bandage to your skin.

2. This adheres very well, and as another review notes, stretches with your skin. The knee is a very tricky area for any bandage because every time you stand up or sit down you move your knee. I have had other bandages come off after repeated movement, but not this one. I probably sit at my desk then get up then sit back down, etc. more than a dozen times a day, but this bandage stays in place.

3. After the scrape started to heal, I went running, which meant that I was constantly flexing my knee. This bandage stayed perfectly in place.

However, before you use this, keep the following in mind:

1. For a large scrape or cut that is "oozing," I use a waterproof bandage because nothing leaks through, as will happen with this bandage (this is not a defect, just a normal characteristic of any non waterproof bandage when dealing with large cuts or scrapes). That is what I did for the first few days after I got the scrape on my knee.

2. The adhesive on this is very strong, so if you put it on an area of skin that has hair, you will definitely pull some hairs out when you remove it. Ouch!

Bottom line: This works great for active people so long as you don't use it on a large cut or scrape that is "oozing" (which may leak through) or on an area with lots of hair.

"I am stuck on Band-Aid because Band-Aids stuck on me." These are great and I never pick up any other brand. I liked these big ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extra large, extra sticky Band-Aids are perfect for active families and small business first-aid kits, November 1, 2010

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
"Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages, Tough-Strips, Extra Large, 10-Count Bandages (Pack of 6)" is pretty self-explanatory. The breathable fabric is soft, flexible and tough; the size of the bandage is a great fit for knee and elbow scrapes and small-to-mid-sized burns; and the adhesive really is durable, so durable that younger children and those with sensitive (or hairy) skin should probably skip this product. However, for me, I really appreciate the durable adhesive qualities of this product.

While this bundled pack of 60 bandages is probably overkill for the average person, it's an ideal size for families with active teens and small businesses looking to put together a respectable first-aid kit; all others will make do with one ten-pack box residing in their medicine cabinet. Of note is the fact that a single box of "Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages, Tough-Strips, Extra Large" runs at a cost online of 3.50-4.50 dollars a pack, meaning that bargain hunters will be able to save a decent bit of coin (approximately 4-10 dollars).

In all, highly recommended for active families and businesses in need of quality first-aid kit materials.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Nonsense Band-Aids, November 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These are the best band-aids I've used. Being a martial arts instructor for the Marine Corps, I was constantly getting scratches and cuts. I could count on these to do their jobs for such minor abrasions, scrapes, etc... I've tried lots of different band-aids, and these hold up the best and stay put during activity.

Pros:
- These are tougher than regular band-aids
- The fabric-like material makes so the bandage doesn't get caught on anything and tear loose, like clothing, etc...
- The material breathes just enough so the covered area doesn't become completely deprived of oxygen.
- Porous composition allows the band-aid to soak up a little bit of blood, if a minor injury is still bleeding slowly, while most band-aids are too plastic.

Cons:
- I wish there was a way to make a waterproof band-aid that was also able to absorb minimal bleeding and still maintain its adhesive quality.

Conclusion:
- These are the band-aids that I continue to buy on a regular basis. They do the job.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dangerous, February 7, 2011
This review is from: Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages, Tough-Strips, Extra Large (1.75-Inch Wide), 10-Count Bandages (Pack of 6) (Health and Beauty)
My husband has very thin skin and bleeds easily so I thought this was the perfect band-aid for him. Quite the contrary the first time I used it and took it off of his arm lots of skin came off with it and made a much worse sore than was there originally. This band-aid is much too strong for older people with any type of skin condition. So now I am afraid to use them on anybody. I would avoid buying this product at all costs.

Band-aid has always been the "go-to" product for minor cuts and scrapes.

This addition to their line-up keeps up the good work. These are definitely tougher and stronger than the standard band-aids and stick like there's no tomorrow, yet come off when you need to change them without removing patches of skin. (Hair is another matter but they all do that.)

These are quite wide and give good coverage but can be tough to put on a small finger or any area that bends a lot, but that's hardly unique to this product.

I recommend these without reservation. They do what they claim to do and do it well.

Don't neglect small wounds, practice good first-aid habits and consult a health-care pro if in doubt or in a crisis.

Perhaps it's absurd to get enthused over bandages, but the Band-Aid Tough Strips are just great. Most of the times I need bandages are because of cooking accidents, and they always seem to be in awkward places - around a knuckle, on a weird spot on my hand, on the tip of my ear. (OK, not that last one, just wanted to see if you were paying attention) Now in the store you may well be tempted by cheaper brands, since genuine Band Aid (and especially the Though-strip ones) are rather expensive. But they cost more because they actually work as intended, and that means you put one on and it stays put all day. The problem with lesser bandages is that they slip - they don't stick well to themselves, so if there's any movement at all they fall off. I often ended up using 4-5 per day, whereas with the Band Aid, I put one on in the morning and it usually lasts all day.

Band Aid seems to have found a combination of textured, breathable material and strong adhesive that no one else can match, and that's evident in this product. These are big boys, and offer excellent coverage of medium cuts and scrapes. A dab of Neosporin and these are all you need for most cuts. Highly recommended, especially for the klutzy cook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product, stick where they should, keep dirt out of wounds, December 16, 2010

It's hard to review Band-Aids - they are basically a commodity item. Anyway, these have the good flexible fabric strip, so they stick well and don't peel away when you move. They do a great job of covering a wound and staying in place.

I used one on a cut on the back of my ankle - I dropped a log on it while stacking firewood. The bandage stuck where I put it, for as long as I wanted it to - through sweat, through showers, several changes of socks and shoes, etc. - and when I removed the bandage, the area underneath was still just as clean as when I applied it.

I can't argue with that.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brand I trust, December 16, 2010

You can not go wrong if you stick with a proven brand like this! The name "Tough" and "Extra Large" fits this new product - I have found the band aid that is strong enough and big enough to cover my heel when I wear hiking boots or new deck shoes without socks. These have helped prevent getting blisters and when I have gotten any they sure protect and pad the area. The cloth cover absorbs and withstands the rubbing of the shoe without shredding and moving around. The adhesive is user proof without the sticky- flimsiness of a plastic covering. This will be a staple in my house.
