A Glimplse Into Personal History,

As a member of the Spartan Motorcycle Club, which hosted Marathon 1972, I am excited to have this in my collection. I am way too young to have been there, but this book (along with my club's archives) is a great glimpse into our history. But, that's all this is: a veiled glimpse. There is no historical text or explanation into any of these pictures or even any of the events. The author explains that in the opening, this is just a poetic view into a year when these men rode, celebrated, and played.
I'm not sure why the Amazon description has "1962". These pictures appear to all be from 1972. And the cover is not the interesting text "Band of Bikers". The actual cover is just another picture. Anyway, you won't find history here. Just a nice little photo album. My copy arrived arrived in time for me to bring to show my club brothers during our first ride of the season. So, I certainly enjoyed carrying these pictures in my saddlebag some 38 years later. A bit of an homage to these men. We continue the ride, guys! |
