5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound from a real, working (circa 2000) Big Band, June 14, 2010

This review is from: Big Band Dance Party (Audio CD)
I heard these guys "live" back in 2000, and was really impressed. They were very versatile, playing Swing Era stuff (Save the Bones, Tuxedo Junction, Sing Sing Sing), and then immediately switching to their big band interpretation of more modern material. This album has their soulful rendition of the Sixties ballad, "Since I Fell For You" which works GREAT as a big band arrangement; the Tenor solo is awesome! The musicianship of this group was outstanding, and the CD is thoroughly enjoyable; I still have my copy, and it is not for sale. If you like Big Band music, you almost certainly will love this CD. These are skilled modern musicians who understand and respect Swing Era material (and play it correctly), and they also are well versed in modern pop music. I am not sure the band is still in existence, but they were darned good in their time. Bottom line, if you can find this CD at a reasonable price, you should buy it.
