Brought to you by the makers of Guitar Hero, one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time, Band Hero for Nintendo DS features the hottest chart-topping hits from everyone’s favorite acts including Taylor Swift, No Doubt, Lily Allen, The All-American Rejects and Jackson 5. Headlined by some of the biggest names in music as in-game artists and playable characters, Band Hero is the ultimate party game to play on the road or at home, where players of all ages will be able to experience the signature, easy-to-learn but difficult-to-master Guitar Hero gameplay.
Band Hero for DS (not compatible with the BSI) is the first ever portable full band gaming experience, allowing fans to create the band they have always dreamed of using any combination of supported inputs, providing wannabe rockers and performers of all ages the chance to experience and interact with their favorite music like never before. Full band gameplay is facilitated through a combination of 4-player multiplayer support via a Nintendo Wi-Fi connection and instrument emulation. Instruments possible in the game are vocals, drums, guitar and bass guitar. Vocal inputs are handled through the DS' built-in microphone, while the other three instruments are imputed via the two different peripherals included with the game. These two are the Band Hero branded grip for playing guitar and bass, and the new Band Hero drum skins for DS. Both contain colored buttons and pads respectively to guide players as they follow along with the game's familiar color-coated Guitar Hero style gameplay. The drum skin rests atop your DS' D-pad and face buttons in an arrangement designed to mimic an actual drum kit, while the grip plugs into the DS' Game Boy Advance slot allowing for simultaneous easy use and screen viewing. The game includes multiple play options, including single player, and multiplayer modes and even the ability to team up with a partner playing on a Wii version of the game for an all new level of competition. The Song List Band Hero for Nintendo DS features over 30 master recordings from some of the hottest bands of today and yesteryear. Some of the songs players can expect to be cranking out with their bands are:

I had needed a Guitar Hero Grip...that was my main reason buying this bundle. It comes with your standard guitar hero grip. No different then the one included in the very first Guitar Hero On Tour DS Game. It also comes with a sleeve to change the old guitar hero with the new band hero sleeve in the guitar grip. Also comes with the stylus pick. The DS Game. Instruction booklets. You know the usual. The two big things with this DS game that sets it apart from all other Guitar Hero/Rock Band DS games. You have the drum skin for playing drums and the microphone will allow you to sing vocals. The Microphone is a little inaccurate but the game makes up for it by having a higher margin for error when singing. The drum skin is nice. Only works and fits with the DS Lite! I found it fun and a nice change to the series. The guitar features of the game work just like any Guitar Hero game on the DS. There is also Wi-Fi compatibility with the Band Hero WII Game. If you have the Band Hero WII game you can use the Band Hero & DS system to act as a live playlist editor for the Wii Game. A nice add-on, although not really very important option.
I found it to be a really good DS game. Fans of GH DS games should love it and love the changes. The tracklist is a little more pop and lighter family friendly rock then Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. But many of songs are still fun to play even so. I recommend Band Hero DS to any Guitar Hero fans, especially fans of the Guitar Hero DS series of games.

Like so many other customers I got screwed! Amazon needs to say that this for the DS Lite only and the manufacturer should be ashamed of themselves for not properly labeling this junk!

Band Hero is just like the previous DS Guitar Hero games but now they have included singing and "drums". I bought this game so I could sing on the road. The game is not very accurate in picking up your voice. I normally sing Expert on Rockband for the Xbox 360. But on Band Hero for the DS, singing the same exact songs on Expert was a lot more difficult because it just didn't register my voice correctly. Also, if you normally don't sing very loudly, you will have to hold the DS very close to your face. I didn't have to do this, but other people had to, and it makes you crosseyed trying to read the lyrics that close. Also, you activate star power by pressing a button. No more screaming "woo" into the mic. The drums are kind of lame. Its like Rockband Unplugged for the PSP in that you press up, down, a, and b to the corresponding notes on the screen. Its the least fun part of the game for me. Unlike previous Guitar Hero games, all the songs on this game are unlocked from the very beginning. I like this feature a lot. I hated how the previous Guitar Hero games forced you to play songs that you hated, not once, but repeatedly. It was very aggravating having to play Lenny Kravitz 3 times in a row because the game wouldn't unlock new songs unless you got more fans. Thankfully, this is not the case this time around. The only downside is that there is no incentive for doing good. In fact, you get rewarded for failing songs. Unlike Rockband or Guitar Hero, the song keeps playing even after you fail the song. Then the game rewards you for "Getting 1 star on a song". And you end up unlocking something because you failed a song.
Another thing worth mentioning is that the drum skin and guitar grip will only fit on the DS Lite. So those of you who own the original fat DS will not be able to play. The previous Guitar Hero games included an adapter to fit the original fat DS but Band Hero does not. If you have the guitar grip from a previous Guitar Hero game, you can use it for this game. The drum skin is also not necessary because you can just press the buttons without it. So owners of the original fat DS can still play this game, as long as they already have the guitar grip from the other games. Band Hero is a fun game but only in small doses. Yes, your hand will cramp because the guitar grip is uncomfortable. But since there is no need to unlock songs, you can just pick the song you want to play and jam out for a few minutes. No need for marathon rock sessions.
