I had needed a Guitar Hero Grip...that was my main reason buying this bundle. It comes with your standard guitar hero grip. No different then the one included in the very first Guitar Hero On Tour DS Game. It also comes with a sleeve to change the old guitar hero with the new band hero sleeve in the guitar grip. Also comes with the stylus pick. The DS Game. Instruction booklets. You know the usual. The two big things with this DS game that sets it apart from all other Guitar Hero/Rock Band DS games. You have the drum skin for playing drums and the microphone will allow you to sing vocals. The Microphone is a little inaccurate but the game makes up for it by having a higher margin for error when singing. The drum skin is nice. Only works and fits with the DS Lite! I found it fun and a nice change to the series. The guitar features of the game work just like any Guitar Hero game on the DS. There is also Wi-Fi compatibility with the Band Hero WII Game. If you have the Band Hero WII game you can use the Band Hero & DS system to act as a live playlist editor for the Wii Game. A nice add-on, although not really very important option.
I found it to be a really good DS game. Fans of GH DS games should love it and love the changes. The tracklist is a little more pop and lighter family friendly rock then Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. But many of songs are still fun to play even so. I recommend Band Hero DS to any Guitar Hero fans, especially fans of the Guitar Hero DS series of games.

Like so many other customers I got screwed! Amazon needs to say that this for the DS Lite only and the manufacturer should be ashamed of themselves for not properly labeling this junk!

Band Hero is just like the previous DS Guitar Hero games but now they have included singing and "drums". I bought this game so I could sing on the road. The game is not very accurate in picking up your voice. I normally sing Expert on Rockband for the Xbox 360. But on Band Hero for the DS, singing the same exact songs on Expert was a lot more difficult because it just didn't register my voice correctly. Also, if you normally don't sing very loudly, you will have to hold the DS very close to your face. I didn't have to do this, but other people had to, and it makes you crosseyed trying to read the lyrics that close. Also, you activate star power by pressing a button. No more screaming "woo" into the mic. The drums are kind of lame. Its like Rockband Unplugged for the PSP in that you press up, down, a, and b to the corresponding notes on the screen. Its the least fun part of the game for me. Unlike previous Guitar Hero games, all the songs on this game are unlocked from the very beginning. I like this feature a lot. I hated how the previous Guitar Hero games forced you to play songs that you hated, not once, but repeatedly. It was very aggravating having to play Lenny Kravitz 3 times in a row because the game wouldn't unlock new songs unless you got more fans. Thankfully, this is not the case this time around. The only downside is that there is no incentive for doing good. In fact, you get rewarded for failing songs. Unlike Rockband or Guitar Hero, the song keeps playing even after you fail the song. Then the game rewards you for "Getting 1 star on a song". And you end up unlocking something because you failed a song.
Another thing worth mentioning is that the drum skin and guitar grip will only fit on the DS Lite. So those of you who own the original fat DS will not be able to play. The previous Guitar Hero games included an adapter to fit the original fat DS but Band Hero does not. If you have the guitar grip from a previous Guitar Hero game, you can use it for this game. The drum skin is also not necessary because you can just press the buttons without it. So owners of the original fat DS can still play this game, as long as they already have the guitar grip from the other games. Band Hero is a fun game but only in small doses. Yes, your hand will cramp because the guitar grip is uncomfortable. But since there is no need to unlock songs, you can just pick the song you want to play and jam out for a few minutes. No need for marathon rock sessions.

Great game with a small song choice,

I found some videos on youtube that made the game sound fun. So I asked for as a christmas present. When I got the game, I was very excited to play it. When I started playing I had heard of some of the songs and some of them I started to like. The only problem that I can find with this game is the small selection of songs. It only has 30 songs (which I'm pretty sure isn't many, but I only have rockband games besides this). This game is the only reason I haven't traded in my ds for a dsi. Its great fun.

Not labeled properly. This game is too small for XL, only works on DS Lite. Now stuck with returns and very sad eight year old.

You know that phrase "If it isn't broken, don't fix it"? Well, the creators of Band Hero DS apparently didn't. Guitar Hero: On Tour was a great game for the DS, and it seemed to me like Band Hero took some of the good stuff in Guitar Hero, and made them bad. First of all, (and this will be kind of hard to explain so bear with me) but you know the area where the notes come down? Well in Guitar Hero, the background is black so that you can see the notes clearly. Not in Band Hero. The notes come down in front of a semi-clear background, so that you see the animations behind the notes, making it harder to see the notes coming down. (hope I explained this well, sorry to be so confusing). Second, (this is hard to explain too..) the songs are a lot harder then in guitar hero. Not because they are faster, but because of the way the notes are patterned. I am somebody who can 100% on even the hardest songs in expert in Guitar Hero (like the finger hurting 'Sweet Home Alabama'), but in this game the songs are just poorly made, making them harder to complete. Also, all the different meters (like the applause meter and the star power meter) are all smushed onto one screen making them ugly and illegible at times. The one positive about this game is that the drum mode is quite fun. It's the only well designed aspect of this game, which is why I gave the game 2 instead of 1 star.

Nevermind I didn't realize there was a sticker in the box you can put on the guitar hero. Anyway Thanks for the fast shipping, and cheap price.

I bought this game cause i had never played a guitar hero on ds but when i was looking it up afterwards i realized i knew barely any of the songs and a lot of the console songs were songs that i loved. the game is fun but if possible i suggest getting it for a console instead.

A word of caution: Galactics fulfilled this order with the European version of this game. For me, it was a pleasant surprise, as the European song list is better. That being said, I don't know if this one was some fluke of nature, or if all of their supple is the EUR version, but you should research both song lists just to be sure you will be happy with the order when you receive it.

This is a very good purchase, you get the guitar grip and the drumset, some of the songs i wasn't familiar with, but that's my own fault :) there's a whole load of awards, that's the great and not so great part of the game, but that's a game design thing.
All in all, I'd totally recommend this. |
