4.0 out of 5 stars Over priced, but entertaining.
Personally, for the PS3 version, currently, it is not a good deal.
The instruments on the PS3 version (new drum set are due sometime in the future) are the same as GH:World Tour Kit.
GH:WT Bundle Is going about for 99$ or so, the standalone game "Band Hero" is ave 50-60$ right now. (11/28/2009)

So, at max price, $160, if you buy both seperately,...

I do not understand why they have a picture of the new drums while they are continuing to sell the drums with world tour. Even after asking them, they assured me the newest band hero, like the one Walmart with the new drums. I am returning this one and going to Walmart where the price is the same but I get what I want and what I paid for.

So, at max price, $160, if you buy both seperately, you can get TWO games instead of just one for the Band Hero Kit priced at 149.99.

As for the game itself, it is fun. It's not metallica, or slipknot type of music. The target audience is teens/tweens/pop culture. It serves it's purpose.
If you like pop music, annd if you like guitar hero, this will be fun. It's not the best in terms of packages/presentation, but it will provide hours of entertainment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't purchase - drum pedal and wiring should be recalled, January 29, 2011
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PS3 Band Hero featuring Taylor Swift - Super Bundle (Video Game)
We opened the box on December 21, 2010 and noticed that this game was released in the fall of 2009. That wasn't a problem, but made us question why the product sat on a shelf for a year. When we unpacked the drum pedal we noticed an oily substance on the pedal, something like grease or vaseline. Then we noticed the wire coating flaking off the wire that connects to the drum pedal. When we examined it further we noticed that the entire length of wire was exposed because the coating looked like it had dry rotted. We called Activision immediately and were told that an RMA # would be emailed to us with 2 hours with a return airbill for a warranty replacement of the foot pedal. We started researching the unit and found that there were many complaints about the "greasy" foot pedal and "dry rotted" wire coating. Two days later we finally recieved the airbill and RMA #. We returned the pedal via UPS January 7, 2011 (we were out of town for 2 weeks during the holiday). Called and verified pedal was received and was told the replacement would ship in 2 weeks. Called again January 29th and was told 6 to 8 weeks for replacement. Calling Activision is more painful than going to the dentist - sorry dentists. Half the time they can't find your info in the system or they tell you to check online but Activision's warranty tracking website is down and is being replaced. I should have returned the game to the store. We still haven't been able to play it and it may be until March 2011 before we do. The warranty is only good for 6 months. I asked Activision why a recall wasn't issued, but of course, no one could answer the question.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have PS3 Family Party Game!, January 11, 2010

This is indeed a MUST HAVE family party video game. I know die-hard metal/rock Guitar Hero fans and followers wouldn't jump in on this bandwagon (stick with the Metallica, World Tour, Smash Hits etc.. game titles) but this title got me and my family hooked the instant we started playing. Admitedly, it is just like karaoke but a WHOLE lot better. If you love today's music, you will definitely love this. If you haven't played or owned any interactive music video game, then this is a good time to jump in with Band Hero. The playlist is very radio friendly and the game as a whole is very user friendly. Plus, you can play most of the Guitar Hero (World Tour and later) and all of the Rockband titles on PS3 with all of the instruments which comes with the bundle. I highly recommend this game. Lots of fun and it will get everyone hooked!

I can't tell you how much my family is enjoying this. The day the kids opened it for Christmas we had two families in our house jamming to everything from YMCA to.....

What is really cool are the Taylor Swift songs. We have a 7 and 13 year old and the neighbors have three similarly aged girls. They LOVE Taylor Swift. I wish more of her songs were on here.

4.0 out of 5 stars PS3 Band Hero - Fun to play, ridiculous to set up!, January 7, 2010

My husband and I were looking for a Rock Band type of game for our oldest daughter (15 yo) as her Santa gift this year. We really wanted to get Rock Band for Wii, but they were impossible to find. Our family gift this year was a PS3, so we looked for Rock Band for that, but they were pricier than I was willing to go. Then we found this on Amazon, and it was a super deal, so we decided this was the one. I received it the day after I ordered it (with standard supersaver shipping, nonetheless!) and got it under the tree. Christmas morning, we opened it up and set it up. The actual set up was not bad - directions for assembling the drums, guitar, etc are simple to follow and it is easy (no tools required). Then we tried to hook it up to the PS3. The only controller that would work is the microphone. The guitar and drums could not join in. We tried everything we could think of, the directions included are worthless, and we could not get it to go. I spent a good part of the day searching online for answers, and found Activision's contact information and emailed them complaining about this game. The day after Christmas, I spent most of the day online searching for any kind of help I could find to no avail. Finally, we just gave up and put it in a corner. The next day (Dec. 27) I received an email response that said I needed to reset my controllers in the main PS3X menu. In order to get the drums and guitar to work, I have to go in to the menu before EVERY time they load the game, and set those as controllers 2 and 3 manually. This is an absolute pain, but what do you do? The game itself is fun even for me (and I am 34!), and it is something that they enjoy immensely. The songs are not the hard rock and heavy metal ones everyone expects from RockBand and Guitar Hero. These are the pop songs like YMCA and Whip It and Taylor Swift. I really feel that this one is made more for the new generation of kids that are my daughter's age, who don't care abou the older classic rock songs. They want to sing and play the ones that they listen to every day and konw by heart. Overall, i would recommend this game, especially as a family game. Just know ahead of time that there is more to it than just plug and play!

4.0 out of 5 stars Band Hero package with Guitar, Drums and Mic, January 27, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

I got this product because my Guitar Hero world tour drumset was broken by my kids and I wanted another guitar. I found that buying this whole package was cheaper than getting a new guitar and getting my existing drum set fixed. The game is fine, the songs are more geared towards my kids but since Guitar Hero 5 songs get imported it results in a large and balanced song list if you have both games. My one complaint is that the rubber coating on the cords for the drum set were dry rotted when I got the game (a problem that led to the demise of my original World Tour drumset). Chunks of black rubber were falling off the cord for the bass drum pedal and the cords connecting the cymbals to the main body of the drum set. I stripped off most of this rubber and replaced it with a whole bunch of electrical tape. Now it is functional and doesn't cover my living room floor with tiny pieces of black junk; it does look a little funky though.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not as advertised, January 15, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PS3 Band Hero featuring Taylor Swift - Super Bundle (Video Game)
We bought this specifically for the instruments. We checked and rechecked compatibility before buying anything.

These are not Band Hero drums. These are Guitar Hero World Tour drums and they do not work with any of the Rock Band games.

The entire reason for the purchase was the instruments. False advertising.

On the upside, it is fun to play. On the downside, we also have four Rock Band games that we got for Christmas that we bought this setup to go with. The drums will not work.

We purchased this for Christmas for my kids. They loved it. However, after playing it for a couple of hours, the black coating that covered the wire to the drum's foot pedal started heating up and coming off. We had black flakes all over the floor. One of the wires that attached the cymbals to the drum kit completely seperated. The rubber parts of the cymbals had a white dusty substance to them. One of my kids asked it this was a used drum kit. I wonder.... Anyway, we sent the entire thing back to Amazon for a refund. We were able to by a new game (Rock Band) with guitar, microphone and drums at Game Stop for only $80. The drum kit was better and did not have the cymbals, but it all looked new, although it was not wireless (no big deal though). My daughter liked to songs on Band Hero better than Rock Band, but we can get just the game.
