Product Description

Thirty-five years after the original Alien motion picture, Tamashii Nations is proud to announce its next ambitious S.H.MonsterArts project with the S.H.MonsterArts Big Chap action figure. Developed from the ground up to replicate poses from the Alien film the overall style dictated by the long arms and legs of the actor inside the suit, and the finely detailed sculpting of the suit itself as designed by Geiger, are replicated in the product in exquisite detail. Big Chap's distinctive translucent head carapace is rendered with a separately-molded semi-translucent part, allowing the precision-sculpted skull beneath to show through. The bone-like tail is built from 18 individually jointed segments for enhanced detail and the tip employs die-cast metal for enhanced weight and realism. Figure set also features interchangeable hand parts and special display stand.

The sculpt on it is amazing and the paint is really nicely detailed, also very well articulated.

You want a better version of the original Alien, get the Neca, The picture up there is nothing compare to the real figure.
robinmistri
It's funny too because Tamashii's site lists it being 180mm which is taller than the Alien Warrior.

This Alien figure is very well done and is very articulated. It's the only Alien figure I have so I cant compare it to others but I love it. The only problem is that it's head is not a black translucent color like in the pictures. Which is what I wanted. It's very clear towards the front. You can see the skull perfectly. Maybe that was done on purpose? You can take the clear dome piece off though and make it darker. I plan on doing that. Also, the figure is about 6.5" tall from head to toe. The base and holder are great. The two replacement hands are also nice. The tail is very flexible and can hold certain poses but falls for most others. All in all, I think this is a great figure and worth the money. I gave it four stars for the misleading pics of the dome. I would buy more though.

Dome is almost 100% clear, don't be fooled by the product photos. This figure is also completely out of scale with the other figures in the SH MonsterArts AvP line and stands a full head shorter than the Warrior Alien and Wolf Predator. Various details are also poorly done despite Tamashii hyping this figure to the max by saying it'd be incredibly and painstakingly accurate.

The figure is also almost entirely devoid of worthwhile accessories. They give you an extra pair of virtually pointless hands and a stand. The LARGER AvP Warrior came with 3 sets of hands, a stand, an egg and a chest burster. Didn't the Big Chap Alien deserve the same treatment? I guess not.

People are complaining a lot about how the head is quite transparent and other little details. If we look at the actual costume not in film it looks a lot more like this that when in film. In the film they use a lot of camera angles and darkening to make the alien look bigger, scarier, and more alien like. This is a common thing used in early horror films. The actual figure looks precisely like the actor's costume and has many bendable parts. The other SH Monsters Alien action figure is based of a CGI alien and not an actual human plus it's a warrior and not a drone like this one. There are just as many bendable parts especially in the tail. I'm a little disappointed that it only came with 2 sets of hands which are both very similar. The warrior came with 3 sets of hands, an egg, and a chestburster. Consodering he current price I got this at (30ish) and the warrior is 50ish dollars it seems fair. The figure is about a head shorter than the warrior, warriors are taller than drones so this makes sense. Overall, great figure, great price. 1st picture is actual actor in costume with and without helmet. Note the head part. 2nd picture is my Big Chap figure next to my Alien Warrior figure.

An OK sculpt, a poor paint scheme, and then there's the size. It's little more than the size of any modern day action figure. 7" ...tops! They put so many points of articulation into it, it cannot stand on its own in any pose. That must be why there's a stand/holder with it just to keep it upright. And as one buyer pointed out, the skull is completely transparent...like glass. Now, if you're digging the original concept look of the human skull ALIEN as seen in some on-set photos...this is great. But it certainly isn't going to look like any other Xeno's in your collection. Bottom line...way too pricey for something so small and un-posable and then add the strange skull design which is nothing like these pictures of it here, and it's just not worth having.

This is a stunningly beautiful piece. But it is quite delicate. The tail does not have the balance it needs to stay up in the positions you would want to pose it in. I also wish it was a little larger. It's not at a scale which makes it look right compared with other 1/12 scale figures. 2 more inches would have made a a world of difference.

I'm glad I got one, but I'm also glad I still have all of my NECA versions of the Alien xenomorphs.

You want a better version of the original Alien, get the Neca, The picture up there is nothing compare to the real figure. This is a piece of s***. It will break apart, and you can't really pose him well. The Neca looks more like the Alien from the movie and more accurate. Disappointed with Bandai Tamashii.

Very cool figure of the original Alien. The sculpt on it is amazing and the paint is really nicely detailed, also very well articulated. Not as solid as most domestic figures (NECA, Marvel Legends, DC Universe Classics for example), but it is to be expected from Japanese figures that are meant more as display pieces with great poseability than play things. It could have come with some better accessories, the extra hands are pretty useless as they're nearly identical. The stand is okay, but I find the deco on base of the stand ugly, would have been better plain black. The inner jaw can be tricky to pull out, there could have been a mechanism to have it pop or slide out. I don't have many Figuarts figures and this is my first Monsterarts because of their price, but I got this when it was only $23.09, for that price I'm pretty pleased with it.

I'm a stickler for authenticity and Bandai releases some good quality figures, but this Alien is comical at best. Compared to the Alien 35th Anniversary 2nd Gen Alien, this figure is just hands down ugly. The teeth are wrong and resemble the never-released Kenner figure's distorted mouth (See Funko's release of the original Kenner sculpt that now in stores). The shape of the dome is off, the color is off and the front of the skull looks like this Alien was born from some huge eyed anime character. It's definitely not worth $25. I simply wouldn't buy it because of the head being just totally wrong. Maybe you can kit bash it with something better.

NECA's 35th Anniversary Alien sculpt is way better than this.
