4.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!, August 19, 2002

This review is from: Bande Feufollet (Audio CD)
from Zydecom...Producer Steve Riley introduces us to a new artist, the wonderful, real, traditional Cajun band, La Band Feufollet. This wonderful new band provides us with a fresh tasting of traditional Cajun, performed with energy, talent and quality musicianship.

Okay, that's the boring description, here's the good one: We love this band! They're honest and true to real Cajun music, their musicianship is terrific, and their just plain fun to listen to. This is one of the best traditional Cajun music CDs coming out of Louisiana in some time.

Our favorite tracks are mostly upbeat numbers: "Fier d'etre Cadien," "Evangeline" (available in a French and an English version), "Petite ou la grosse," and "Le 2-Step de tete dure." You also need to check out the hauntingly "beautiful Belle Louisiane."

Evidently, we're not the only ones that like this band. The CFMA has nominated the band members for quite a few awards: Brittany Polaski and Ashley Hayes both for Female Vocalist of the Year, the CD for Best Album of the Year, "Belle Louisiane" for Best Song of the Year," and the whole band for Best Band of the Year.

This is the band's second CD, they released a few years back when the band members were mere munchkins. Visit their website - they have RealAudio samples of their music available for you to sample.

5.0 out of 5 stars National Folk Festival, Bangor, Maine, August 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Bande Feufollet (Audio CD)
Just came back from the National Folk Festival where I heard this group 2x! What an amazing bunch of kids. They had the dance tent rocking! And later at the main stage people were dancing all around us! Wonderful music! And the oldest kid is only 18! I can't wait to get this cd (they were sold out at the festival!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply amazing, November 10, 2007

The Amazonian (Columbia, MD, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bande Feufollet (Audio CD)
I was lucky enough to see and hear this group for the first time at a Kennedy Center festival in 2006. They are still performing, which is remarkable in that the founders started the group 9 years ago at the tender ages of 10 and 12. How to describe them? Young, fresh, sincere, lyrical. It is so rare in this country to see musicians their age adopt and build on a musical form that is so non-mainstream and deed-rooted as Cajun. OK, if this was Clifton Chenier's last CD, I wouldn't give it five stars, but Feufollet deserves it for the whole package--where they started, what they are, and where they are going.
