An important text for religious studies students,

An important text for the student of Egyptian and Ethiopian religion. E.A. Wallis Budge was one of the few english translators to translate Ethiopian text. This is one of about half a dozen text Budge translated near the end of his life.

The contains of this edition doesn't match the title of the original version. It only looks like real reprint of the 1929 editon. First of all, there is no Ethiopic text at all! Besides, the description at the Kessinger Publishing's web site mentions 67 plates (which should be, as I guess Ethiopic text of facsimile). You won't find any trace of those plates in the book which I have bought and have in the front of me. I have found in the web the Electronic edition Ethiopic text prepared by Michal Jerabek. For that electronic edition (quoth)"was used a photo-litographic reproduction of the manuscript published in E. A. Wallis Budges' The Bandlet of Righteousness, London, 1929" (quoth). I have bought the edition of Kessinger and I will keep the book because of its value although it was abridged! I have many books of Budge they are still worth reading (but when it concerns Egypt you have to look for updated informations,) that's why I won't return the book.
My conclusion is: if you throw out part of the book, leave the information about it! It is cheating to say that the book contains something you won't find! If you really want make money by abridging the book, it's not the best way. Some people look for original texts and that's the reason I have bought the book hoping to find it! W. P. Turek PhD
