Band's A-Rockin',

Johnnie Lee Wills lead one of the finest of the big Western dance bands, second to no one. Johnnie Lee's bands usually included saxaphones, clarinets, or other horns, in addition to the string instruments. This album covers his band's music from 1941 to 1951. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star rating is the hiss on several of the tracks which detract from its sound somewhat. "Together Forever" is particularly poor..

I HAVE TO SAY JOHNNIE LEE IS NOT UP TO THE STANDARDS OF HIS BROTHER BOB WILLS OR THE YOUTHFULL FUN OF HIS BROTHER BILLY JACK WILLS, STILL THIS IS A GOOD ONE THAT YOU WILL ENJOY. UNFORTUNATELY A FEW OF THE TRACKS HAVE THAT ANOYING HISS THAT ACOMPANIES A LOT OF OLD TIME MUSIC.
