The Dog and Everything Rocks!,
By
This review is from: Bandshell (Audio CD)
Augie, Jimmy, Dan, and Tommy, AND GREAT TUNES makes up this hott new band on the block. Strait from Chicago they have gone around touring the cities and becoming more and more popular. I personally have been keeping track of this band and have seen they're performances as well as hung with the band. They are sweethearts. "Bandshell" is a great album, a mix of pop and rock, it's a whole new sound in itself. Wannabe, Hey Love, The Book, and Superglue, have been some of the most popular tracks. Now they just came out with a whole new album "Sound Off". It became available July 10, 2004! If you loved Bandshell then this one will rock your socks. If it's even possible they managed to create and even better CD with more energy and meaning. It's no question this band is gonna make it big and they deserve it! And I love hangin out with them everytime I see them play.
To the Band: Love you guys!

i first heard Dog and Everything from a enthusiastic emo (i know that sounds oxymoronical) fan.. i had my cd's stolen from me, so she gave me two cd's, Plain white t's (check them out too) and The Dog and Everything... I was taken back by the incredibly energy they have.. they demonstrate an incredible ability to sing very emo-ish lyrics (like a song about his "luv" leaving him) in a very popy, fresh sound... the perfect example of this is #3, hey luv... it's an unbelievably versitile song... you could rock out with the beat, and the catchy chord transitions, or cry to the heartbreaking lyrics.. an album like this doesn't come around often... buy this album today

Love it! I would see this band when I lived in Chicago when this CD came out. Really good clean lyrics and very clever and I wish there was more music like this. I had friends in chicago that were close with them and they were really cool people.

Better Than "Sound Off",

I first saw the Chicago band The Dog & Everything play live in Omaha, Nebraska at the Ranch Bowl (now being torn down for a Wal Mart...gag) back in early 2002, not long after the indie release of Bandshell. It was this live performance by the Dog that made me a fan, and initially "The Book" was the song that convinced me to buy the album. A poor college student, I didn't have the $10 to cough up after the show, so I had to order it online. After the 2 week wait, I was not disapointed. "Hey Luv," a fan favorite, soon became a favorite of mine as well. "Wannabe," "Superglue" and "Cold So Fast" round out the album's best and most catchy tracks. Songs like "Purposely" and "Luck Alone" showcase the band's individuality. "The D&E" is a self-promotional half-assed rap-esque weird song that might leave you saying, "What?" The album could have done without that song, but regardless is an excellent addition to any indie rock collection.
This album spent many hours in my cd player throughout 2002. My friend John claims that it sounds like it was "recorded in someone's garage." However, it is this raw sound combined with Dan's vocals that give the album that little extra something that is always present in the Dog's live shows. The success of "Hey Luv" made the band incredibly popular across the country, and I continued to see them play live over the next few years. Their next full length album "Sound Off" was a disapointment in comparison to "Bandshell," and only Dan & Auggie remain from the original line-up. If you're looking to check out the Dog & Everything, Bandshell is the album for you, but a live performance would be more enjoyable.

This CD was a complete impulse buy after seeing this band in concert (and meeting them before and after the show) in Nebraska and to my relief, my impulse was right on in buying this CD. I absolutely LOVED their show and this CD is a great reminder of the greatest time I have ever had with my girl friends on a girl's night out. This is what music is all about. It is pop-rock with an alternative, edgy feel. Good music and I LOVE "Hey Luv". It has to be my favorite of songs.

Gimme The Dog...and Everything!,

Oh yes, this is what music is ALL about....back before Chicagoland radio turned into a corporate wasteland, they played country rock right after some pop and after that, some reggae....it was all fun and exciting. The D & E bring that all back and make it fresh again! "Hey Luv" and "Wannabe" are bonifide hits in their own right, while "Early On" and "The D&E" are flat out rock-a-holic! This debut is great, head-to-toe and why they haven't broke nationally is a mystery~ but we're glad to still have them "hometown" for ourselves. See them live, they are a complete panic....and buy this album!

This CD is one of my favorites. The band is amazing live and this CD packs into 12 tracks, the completely off the wall, fun vibe that their live shows hold for fans. The guys are tons of fun, and totally friendly, and the music is great on top of it all. What more could you possibly ask for?

I got the chance to see these guys live in the small town of Alamosa last April. I of course found them through myspace! I fell in love with their music and they were even better live. They have such a great stage presence...and they are really interested in meeting fans (my friends and I got to hang out with them for a while after the show). Their CDs are great!! This CD and "Sound Off" are a must have for people who are into the alternative genre. It is a good investment and band to put among your CD collection!
