Funky, modern sax,

I saw Frank Catalano and his band perform in Chicago in 2007 and managed to get a song stuck in my head for a full year until I saw him again in late 2008. Then I bought this CD and I absolutely love it. It turns out the song I loved so much upon first listen was "God Made It Beautiful," which is on this CD. But there are many other gems on here.
This is absolutely not elevator music. Frank Catalano has worked with Jennifer Lopez, among others, and his sounds are modern. If you're looking for Kenny G's style, look elsewhere. This is sax that makes you want to get up and dance, though there are a couple of slower songs as well. My two other favorite songs on the CD are "Funky Dunky" and "Soul Burner." Many of the songs prominently feature the piano, bass and drums, as well as Frank on the sax. He has some solos that will blow you away. I like jazz music, but I've never owned jazz CDs. I really think this CD appeals to just about any music lover, young or old.
