Form and Function,
This review is from: Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones (Personal Computers)
Danish luxury electronics company B&O delivers a well-designed, classically inspired, high-performance headphone with the Form-2. "Bang og Olufsen" have stores all over Denmark, even in the smallest of towns. Yet in the US, they are few and far between. After the bygone age of the record player, few Americans know of or remember the company internationally known for function and design in electronics. Most of their products come with a hefty price tag, but the $99 MSRP for these on-ear headphones is a Benjamin well spent.
Design - the frame is made of a matte finished black plastic material. The adjustment mechanism is metal and slides cleverly into the plastic frame. The speakers themselves are positioned in a ball-and-socket joint and are removable for maintenance or accident-- I know from experience. Someone once tripped over my cord and instead of ripping the wire from the insert socket, the speaker itself detached from the frame of the headphones and landed safely in my lap. The speakers are, of course, round. But the foam pad is square. With some headphones, the foam decomposes after time but mine have withstood normal use for over two years and still look as new. The black cable also has a matte finish, something you don't normally see with electronics. Comfort - The speakers fit comfortably over the ear without too much pressure. Only after prolonged use, do the top of my ears feel a bit numb. This can be easily prevented by moving the position of the speakers up or down over the ear. Performance - Bass response is exceptional for the size of headphones, especially considering they aren't sound isolating like the more expensive Bose headphones. The sound is rich and is undistorted with the vast majority of songs. I listen mostly to rock, folk, soundtrack, and international music. I did a special test with the song Moan by Trentemøller because of the song's bass. The results were no distortion and the bass wasn't so overpowering that it hurt my ears. They perform better than my Shure earbuds in this test as well. Conclusion - These are an attractive pair of headphones without being stylish and obscene. They have a classic form and superb performance. Trust in the B&O name should also boost your confidence in buying this product. They aren't the best for travel or professional monitoring, just leisure listening. Origin - Made in Japan.

the plight of an audiophile...,

This review is from: Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones (Personal Computers)
without a doubt these are the best sounding headphones i've ever purchased although i'm greatly disappointed in the durability. i use these headphones at my desk at work and ONLY while sitting and working on the computer. within six months of purchasing them the plastic on the inside of the headphones broke next to the screws that hold the metal "slides" in place. i was very impressed with b&o when i brought them back to the store and they replaced them with no questions asked. but here i am, a year after that incident and my headphones are broken in the same spot and just two minutes ago they snapped completely in half when i was simply putting them on to my head.
so my review is mixed: the sound quality, as expected from b&o is phenomenal, although now that my second pair has broken in the same spot(s) with sedentary movement i'm not sure i'll get these again. it's a shame though, i really loved these headphones...

Great Sound for not so much money,

I've own them for 5 years now, they still sound excellent, very good for listening music at home, but not very recomendable for going out with them (must handle with care). They will improve A LOT the sound out of your mp3 player, cd player and you can enjoy the full potential of a nice home stereo system.
My ears do tend to hurt a bit after 2 hours with them, but that's enought time for me. Bass is incredible for the size they have, mid's are perfectly clear and hi tones are crispy, well defined and not ear piercing. Give them a try, you wont regret it. By the way, please excuse my english, I'm not a native speaker.

Amazing Sound for Jazz, Classical, & Indie Rock,
By
This review is from: Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones (Personal Computers)
I love the sound and comfort of these headphones. I wear them all day long at work and only occasionally have to take them off to let my ears breathe. They have great sound all around except for on the more extreme end of the music spectrum. They don't have the pounding bass that is expected out of harder rock, metal, or rap.
I had a small problem with the plastic plates that hold them together, they cracked which caused a creaking noise when I move my head. I contacted Bang & Olufsen directly about it, and they sent me a whole new headband and some replacement ear pads at no charge to me. I called them on a Friday morning and had the parts by the following Wednesday. They shipped them express from DENMARK!!! That was amazing customer service. It appears that the plastic is better than the original because it seems more flexible and hasn't cracked again. If your music tastes are a little more grown up, you will love these. The sound quality is great for jazz, classical, and lighter rock. If you're a metal head or listen to rap look elsewhere for some ear destroying bass thumping headphones, all others will enjoy the comfort and the sound quality.

Simply Wonderful,

This review is from: Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones (Personal Computers)
I needed a quality pair of headphones to use while I work. I am rather picky about sound and after some online research I found these B&O Form 2's. I bought them from my local Apple store $99.95+ tax and opened them as soon as i got home. The design is very attractive and the sound just blows me away! Unlike Bose headphones, which tend to be a bit bassy for my taste, these Form 2's are very natural sounding. The bass tones are very present, but also are the high and mid tones. Basically, everything is equal.
The quality is exactly what you'd expect at this price and I plan on having them for a very long time. They are mostly high quality plastic with metal adjusters for the earpieces. The overall feel is very technical and European. Once you set them they stay just how you like them and the attachment point aren't loose at all (thus no movement). Overall, I an very satisfied with these headphones and would buy them again in a heartbeat.

Frustrating overall.,

Pros: Clean design; soft cushions for the ears; long cord which makes them great for plugging into the computer at the office. Very light.
Cons: Portability less than ideal since they don't collapse. Fragile. Best kept in drawer of your office desk. Not for users with big heads: they don't fit the apex of my dome, so I have to wear them a bit skewed toward the back. Annoying, and almost a fatal flaw. Sound quality not as fabulous as you'd think. Summary: Decent, but exclusively for stationary computer listening while @work. I'd shop around some more before clicking "buy."

not very durable,

Truly loved the looks of the form 2. They are indeed light weight, and sound is as can be expected from B&O. They are a bid stiff on the head, and yet tend to "fall down". Expected more from B&O, especially when they fell apart. In a fairly short amount (less than a couple of years, without serious use) - the soft ear pads were all worn out and had to order fairly expensive new ones. I DO applaud B&O for providing replacement parts. Not long thereafter, the metal that connects the two ear phones to the black holder broke in two, rendering the otherwise great product useless. I expected more from a $100 purchase. Otherwise very fond of the ear phones.

Big head? Go somewhere else,
By
This review is from: Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones (Personal Computers)
I'll admit it, I have a big head. Not in a full-of-myself sort of way, but in a need-a-large-hat sort of way. And if you have a big head like me, these headphones will break at the earpiece within a few months. It's a terrible design, really. Like other B&O products (the corded phone that could create its own feedback comes to mind) I have had the urge to buy, the form trumps function. I love the way they look. If only they had taken into account things like, oh, say, head size? No, why would they do that for headphones? It's not like people put them on their heads or, you know, head is in the name of the product.

good in general,
This review is from: Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones (Personal Computers)
i am not a big fan of fancy headphone, so i do not know much about this item. but generally, it is the same as described in most of the reviews. it is light, the sound quality is good, but looks like easy to break. i will definitely avoid to use it outside my apartment.

Short Cable,

This review is from: Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones (Personal Computers)
I have used the Form 2 for 17 years, until it fell apart. I loved it so much that i ordered a new one. Although the Form 2 is still the same head phone, B&O has made the cable that connects to the BEO system shorter. Unfortunately for me this means that I can no longer connect my headphones from my chair to my BEO system. I emailed B&O about this issue, and they confirmed that they now attach a shorter cable to the headphone. However, if you need a longer cable, you can now by an extension cable.
