another brilliant work,

This review is from: Bang! (Audio CD)
Unfortunately, we're losing this amazing band yet again this year. It's without a doubt the biggest disappointment already in 2009, but what a way to go out (pun intended). Every track is great & I definitely think it's one of their best discs period (& I have them all). The addition of banjo on "Have Mercy" & "Turn Left At California" adds a Zep-like feel to the tunes and the others are just top-notch rock n roll. "Carol Ann" is a hilarious look at a night after while "Stormwater" looks at Hurricane Katrina's aftermath. "On The Radio" literally gives a "hats off" to those who had a chance to support them & didn't. Miss this at your peril! Da' Wolf

I have to admitt this is not their best cd buy far even if it has some of their best rocking songs,it wasnt their best effort. On the radio ,stormwaters, have mercy ,and honey, are good songs ,but this album lacks the kick that, seven, behind close doors, had. If you havent heard thunder start with one of those albums then try bang ,and i am sure your find out while many people say ,this band flys under the radar.I hope this review was helpfull to you

Back With A Bang,

This is the new album by Thunder the british hard rockers who first burst on the sceen with Backstreet Symphony. Well they're back with another collection of songs full of great hooks, tasteful soloing, and downright incredible songwriting ability, & it's a step up from the last album; Robert Johnsons Tombstone. Someone elsewhere said that singer,Danny Bowes, has a voice similar to Paul Rogers with a hint of David Coverdale & even a bit of Steve Perry...can't disagree with that. Here's a breakdown of the songs: On The Radio, Right this kicks the whole album off with a diatribe why there's never been if any support from mainstream English radio. One of the reasons the band isn't better known, a great song live especially the big screw you before the solo. Just a full on balls out rocker. Stormwater; This song tries to see the disaster of what Hurricane Katrina did to New Orleans through the eyes of one of its inhabitants. Carol Ann; This is about the consequences of excessive drinking when a guy that wakes up remembering nothing and the only clue he has is a name and a phone number scrawled on the back of his hand in lipstick as in the song, "Carol Ann, are you a babe or do you look like a man?" Retribution; If you ever feel that nothing goes your way that you start losing hope. Candy Man; About a man who takes up the offer to meet eastern european women looking for western husbands. Have Mercy; A song about an older man going out with a beautiful young woman. There's nothing wrong with that but when somebody informs you that the object of your lustful daydreaming is still of school age it's a whole different thing. Just makes you feel like a dirty old man. Watching Over You; This song is either about a mournful ballad a romantic, shy fool or a pervy stalker. To me the verse sound a bit like What About Love by Heart. Miracle Man; This song is about TV Evangelists whipping up a storm on the God channels praying on the lonely and gulible to relieve them of their money by means of promises of redemption in exchange for a lump of cash. Turn Left At California; A song about going on the open road & chillin' out. sitting in the shade somewhere hot with an ice-cold beer. Love Sucks; Just tells it how it is. One Bullet; This is about how many young people are murdered unnecessarily by shooting or stabbing in London. Being young should be a time in your life where you're free to not worry. Honey; About a guy that's so fed up with his girlfriend's material obsessions he can't take any more. He dumps her and spews out all the bile that he's kept in check for so long. *note* since this review Thunder have decided to call it a day with a farewell tour of the UK in July. It's a shame you guys in the U.S. didn't get a chance to see them live, you've missed out on one of the best live bands around.
