What a masterpiece. The opening country tinged "Kingdom Come" gets things off on the right foot. Other classic cuts are the soulful ballad "What Is Love All About", the blistering rock funk tune "Give It All Away", The smmoth and funky "Hollywood", the bizzare "Radio Days" and "Rescue Me". All the other cuts are great also. This along with Goodbye Jumbo is World Party at its best.

I love this album. It's funky, mellow, spacy, rockin, bluesy--often within the same song. A great buy if you can find it.

This release has something for everyone. Hard edged 90's grunge styled rock (Give It Away, Radio Days), Funky soulful tracks (Hollywood, What Is Love All About), folk based ballads (Is It Like Today, Sooner or Later), and even a little Celtic inspired folk (Kingdom Come). All of it extremely catchy and excellently performed.

I bought this 1993 album second-hand in Seattle recently on the strength of a half-remembered, decade-old rave review I'd read in a music journal and I was delighted to discover what a good album this is. I particularly like the song Is It Like Today. This is a really terrific song, and it's message is relected in several other environmentally-conscious statements here, such as the brief, blunt And God Said.Welshman Karl Wallinger is World Party, and he is a truly multi-talented musician whose many styles are in evidence on this record. Really good for those who like well-produced, intelligent pop/rock songs.

This is one of Karl's best. He is one of my favorite artists writing the most tuneful, melodic gems. Intelligent, thoughtful what can I say? Get all his work there's not one bad album in all of them. I am a member of his World Party.. He is back now from his an aneurysm (brain). He couldn't speak for a long time. I am looking forward to his new album. If you like great rock and roll look no further than World Party.

This is usually one of the lower-reviewed of his albums, but it may be my favorite -- it's probably the one that goes the farthest beyond traditional folk-rock into dance and funk (meaning, drum machines). Amazing variety of styles on one album -- you hear the usual influences mentioned for World Party loud and clear here (the Beatles, Dylan, Stones), but a few new ones are apparent. For some reason, World Party can come close to downright copying of styles (was that a bit of the Who's "Gettin in Tune" in there somewhere?), but I'm never bothered as I am with other bands like Oasis or Smashmouth. Probably has something to do with monumental talent...

Most favorite song by the World Party on this album. Is it like today...As for the rest of the songs, no worries they're all good. With second best song "sunshine". Ofcourse the rest of the album is great too. I won't mention all the other songs as you can see that yourself. Together with "Goodbye Jumbo" this is the Magnum Opus of The World Party. You'll be safe having these two in your record collection, together with "Nevermind " ,"Blood Sugar Sex Magic ", "Rubber Soul " and "A night at the Opera ".

I really love the breadth that this CD exhibits in World Party's talents. The first song will knock your socks off the way the energy builds from the beginning to the end of the song. Of course, Is It Like Today, is a timeless classic that carries one away to a different time and place. I especially liked the environmentally responsible message that the entire CD sends. Well done!!
