B-side is beyond bomb...,
By reece waters (Los Angeles Ca.) - See all my reviews

Considering both sides were fresh out of the gate on this album I thought it was far better than most of the main stream acts out at the time. But lets B-real, If your a crip or a crip "sympathizer" this album ain't for you (why hurt your own feelings?). I may be biased due to the fact that I used to Bleed for Piru, but honestly the B/P-side was simply bomb. The B/P side truly had a sound that would have never given the idea that they were new to this. Where on the c-side it's like a lot of angry confusion due to the fact that they really could not hold there own. The c-side was pretty wack lets just be real about it. I've spoken to many crips in the Los Angeles and South side area that don't even recognize the album due to the fact that the Bloods simlpy dominated lyricaly. It was almost a slap in the face. And belive it or not, Piru Luv is considered a classic by G's from most So.Cal. klicks be they Blood, Piru or crip. (Piru is crip in reverse but the c's on it's back, Piru Luv)Come on now, does it get any better? 1Luv....Holla

Gang Bangin' Lives on and never forgotten,
By A Customer
This review is from: Banging on Wax (Audio CD)
I couldn't agree any more with the homie from Indiana, this was rap at it's best until 2Pac past and those wacked out dancin' east coast groupies came out with that movement and now Nelly and the country grammar crap and I went to school with Nelly but anyway, this CD is in the top five all-time of my rap collection. I wasn't in the blood or crip game but one thing I love about this CD is that it talks about what you see outside of your home and what a lot of us went through coming up in dysfunctional families and so forth. A lot of people(so called hip hoppers) don't even give this CD props. It is a classic. I have had this CD since '95. I will always ride for all of those who earned their stripes on the battlefield. One Luv!!!

gang banging is lame! why throw away your life, make something of youself, and killing people is not the answer to problems, sorry gangstas. this is just music, but the people making this music live a stupid life. working at McDonalds is better than being in a gang.

OFFICAL HIP-HOP REVIEWER,
By
This review is from: Banging on Wax (Audio CD)
im here to write another review for all you fans of the hip hop world. now just been reading through the reviews that a lot of people have writen about this album and it makes me laugh, just what i'd thought i'd see, most of the people think they are members of the bloods and crips gang.. .. .. lol. i think you guys should read up on the crips because to be a member is rather extreme but hey.. .. you guys already know that since it seems most of you have been through it (yeah, right) you see, having two large black men beating you half to death with bats and planks of wood seems rather extrem "but wait", not only that but your hand or knee aint aloud to touch the floor for 5mins while these gentlemen are beating you like tweedy bird loc would beat eazy e. So please stop using words like CUZZ which for those who dont know is what actual and REAL crip gang members call each other.
and iv also noticed that you guys are writing BK and CK, you guys realy do think your members. if you like saying CK then why not have a walk down kelly park and say it guys.. .. . for those who dont know what BK and CK mean BLOOD KILLA and CRIP KILLA. now i know all the big slang words but you dont hear me thinking im a blood or crip and i bet must of you who have wrote a review aint a blood or crip either. now if your like me and are simply interested by the gang life in LA and dont actulay think your some big crip OG who seems to like spending his gang life buying and writing reviews on amazon while some how gangbanging on the tough streets of compton! ! ! if you are like me and are interested in listening about gang life then this album maybe for you, please be aware that the album does use actualy gang members so if your a fan of what i call HIP POP ie: R-KELLY ( sorry for having to bring his name into this.. .. .. what a soft one. ) or USER!! ( sorry again ) then you may find alot of the word hard to understand, if you have what is called street knowledge of gang words you should be fine. tweedy bird loc was part of the project for this album and if you'v not heard his albums i strongly advice you look him up next, iv wrote a review on his 187 RIDE BY album which is help full.in the banging on wax album there are a lot of sample beats which sound great. please dont be put off by the other reviews of this album but do take in mind the SLANG of alot of the members on the album i'll give you a quick samply ie: in the song piru love the words "in the bity of bompton", may confuse some people but to fans of the bloods will know the crossing out the C and using a B is a normal thing for the bloods. people who do buy the cd please give it time to grow on you, the cd seems OKAY at first but after a week of singing PIRU LOVE over and over due to the fact it gets stuck right in ya head will make you want to listen to the cd quite a lot. so for a quick sum up. people who like hardcore rap and like having to pay attention to the words been said over a funky beat, this is for you. people who like the more laid back ie: mc eiht, even biggie and have trouble listening to word and find your self getting to involved in the beat, try listening to song such as BANGING ON WAX, PIRU LOVE, C-SICK, CRIP CRIP CRIP, of the internet first then buy the cd. hope i help alot of you with the cd decision ( just buy the cd itz only about $8, come on.. .. .. )

STEADY DIPPIN',

Time for an honest review, not from a Crip or Blood, in fact I'm Mexican. So here is an honest review, the album gets a 4/5 simply for the production because the lyrics get a 3/5 (although I feel that I was too generous). The significance of the album is a product of the Peace Treaty of '92. My favorite group was the Crips, I honestly think they had better production, Although Lil Hawk from the Bloods had a pretty decent flow. Outstanding tracks by the Bloods, however, were "SHOULDA BEEN A B-DOG", "RIP A CRAB IN HALF", & "PIRU LUV". DJ Battlecat laced a lot of these tracks which is why I like this album and it's sequel. if you are a fan of G-Funk and gangster rap, then this album is worth your time. has some really great samples, like "I WANNA DO SOMETHING FREAKY TO YOU", "MORE BOUNCE", "FUNKY WORM", "COMPUTER LUV" and "BOUNCE ROCK SKATE ROLL"
Tracks worth listening: 2 Bangin' on Wax 3 Shuda Beena B-Dog 5 Rip a Crab in Half 6 Piru Love 11 Another Slob Bites the Dust 12 Crip, Crip, Crip 14 Steady Dippin'

Bloods & Crips "Bangin On Wax" ----- 3.5 Stars -----,

This review is from: Banging on Wax (Audio CD)
Bangin on Wax was a gangsta rap music project by both the Bloods and the Crips. At first it seemed impossible that the two rival gangs would collaborate on a music project but the impossible happened. The music project was organized by Los Angeles area producer Ron "Ronnie Ron" Phillips and rapper Tweedy Bird Loc. Actual gang members from both sides auditioned on a tryout and the best ones were chosen for the project. The album was released in 1993 on Dangerous Records and was a success selling over 400,000 copies. There is also another album from the Bloods and the Crips on the Bangin on Wax project titled "The Saga Continues," which was released in 1994. After this album, however, the rappers who appeared on the albums began recording separate albums for Warlock Records, under the group names Nationwide Rip Ridaz (Crips) and Damu Ridaz (Bloods).

Normal review,

Alright there are a lot of reviews of this album that really dont make any sense at all. so im just gonna give a straight out normal review for it. the best song on here is definately "Piru Love." the second best song on here is "Rip a Crab In Half" and the third best might be "C-K Ride". All these songs are on the B-dog side. A lot of people who wrote reviews for this album are right about the C-side being sorry and weak. But i thought it was alright. The best song for the C-side was "K's up". The best rappers on the album were "Red Rum 781" and "Bloody Mary", the two guys who rapped on "Piru Love" and which are standing on the front left of the album cover. This album is definately worth the money. You'll be listening to the B-side of this album a lot more than the C-side. The songs give off a better sound in 3D Stereo also, so try listening to it like that. And I know this album is kinda old, but hey you know what... It's ALOT better than all of that other junk that out there in the mainstream right now playing on MTV and on the radio and stuff. Nothing in the rap biz these days can compare to the great beats that u get in good old "Gangsta Rap." We need another "Bangin On Wax" album these days just to bring the magic back to the Rap industry. But Suge's gettin outta jail soon, so he might do sumthing about it. This album pumps out the good beats and hooks. Especially the song "Piru Love." So anyway get this album, because you'll luv it. PS: Kurupt said it once and i'll say it again... "Naw homeboy the game just aint the same!"
