The definitive Go West record,

This review is from: BANGS & CRASHES (Audio CD)
This was the first Go West album I purchased. I later followed up with "Dancing on the Couch" and their debut as well as "Indian Summer". They have not made a bad record and the combination of great pop/soul songwriting and top-notch vocal and instrumental ability makes each offering a treat. What makes "Bangs and Crashes" stand out are the remixes. They take songs with pep and power and shift them into overdrive. "Goodbye Girl" is phenomenal while the other remixes contained are clever without ever becoming annoying. This is producing at its finest and the whole album still sounds excellent sonically even twenty years on - that is why I have ordered the CD to replace my worn out cassette tape. By the way - an excellent re-make of "Ball of Confusion" is a predictor of things to come later when they were able to update soem other soul classics, such as "Tracks of my tears" and "What I won't do for love". Highly recommended!
