Book Description

Enki is the son of Anu, God King of Nibiru. Heir to the throne and his father's closest confidant, his only rival is the malevolent god Inlil, his half-brother.
Having committed transgressions against other gods, Inlil is put on trial. His father, Anu, banishes him to Earth. There, he is given the ability of versipellis, a shapeshifter. He chooses to reside in the form of a wolf and rules within that realm. With this banishment, Anu places one decree on Inlil. He must not encroach upon the domain of man.
Inlil cannot resist. He discovers the pain and suffering of man strengthens him. He determines this empowerment can be used for a return to Nibiru. Once there, he plans to overthrow his father, and seek vengeance upon those responsible for his banishment.
In response to Inlil's latest offense, Anu sends Enki to Earth. Also given the ability of versipellis, Enki chooses the form of a great white eagle and the adventure begins.
Using myths and religious legends, Inlil recruits followers as the Egyptian god Apep and Zoroastrian demon Ahriman. For two thousand years they battle through ancient Egypt and Pakistan, with the future of mankind in the balance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good book. September 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
At first, I was a bit confused when it jumped from the first subjects, to the next.
This is where I start thinking and trying to figure out where the author is going to go with the book.
I knew there was going to be Good/Evil, and Mr. Dean did not disappoint me.
God's Among Us makes me want to know more of the history it is set in too.
I look forward to more of this type of book from this author.

Great read, thank you William Dean!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Enjoyed this August 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I got this book after the author posted about it on Twitter. Took me a little while to read it as I was in the middle of an omnibus for another author. Now that I have though, GREAT JOB! I enjoyed the book, the writing had good flow and the ending left me a feeling of wanting more. I would love to see the novellas eventually put together into a larger volume to read through at one time. Give it a try, I think you will like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ripping Yarn! November 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book reads like a cross between Beowulf, the Epic of Gilgamesh and The Clan of the Cave Bear, with a twist of fantasy. The result is a compelling story all its own, and it's a ripping-yarn page turner that expresses quite a lot of complex content in a short amount of writing, and it's all accessible on first read.

I found myself drawn to keep reading and I can't wait for Banished, Book 2. If you like fantasy with a mythological bent, this is an intriguing and rewarding read. So just get it!

Note: I downloaded this for free off the Kindle store however the views I express are my own, regardless of price.
