Book Description

A Bankline publication April 1994
Bankers As Brokers is the first and the definitive book on the revolution sweeping the banking industry-the sales of investment products such as mutual funds and annuities by banks. Merlin Gackle, the head of INVEST, the premier provider of bank mutual funds services, offers this insightful strategic view of one of banking's most lucrative areas. Bankers As Brokers shows how to increase income, customer retention and new business by adding investment products to the line while avoiding cannibalization of a deposit base and a regulatory crackdown. This road map for the future can help readers negotiate a way through those pitfalls to record-setting profitability. Topics include: Building a full-service financial center by offering investment products; Dramatic changes in customer needs and how to meet them; High-tech marketing methods that target new customers; Integrating investment products with the "rest" of the bank; The growing regulatory concern for banks.
