About the Author

David Weaver first showcased his talent by writing engaging front page articles for a local newspaper in Georgia. After quitting the newspaper and opting to live a life of fast money, he ended up in federal prison for a 4 year stint. It was in prison 6 years after he wrote his last newspaper article where he re-connected with the pen and wrote his first urban novel, Bankroll Squad. The 27 year old will be released from Oakdale federal prison in 2011 and has many more novels prepared to be released to the public.

National best-selling author David Weaver is not one to let obstacles stop him, instead of waiting for a big break, he successfully took his writing career in his own hands and launched a publishing company despite the odds stacked against him.

Weaver created Smart Black and Rich publishing while on the phone in prison after the guard announced he only had 30 seconds remaining to talk. Today, after serving five years in federal prison, Weaver has become an unstoppable force in the publishing industry.

Literary critics and readers of his work describe his writing as poetic and captivating. Weaver leaves his audience astonished by his intricate similes and unbelievable metaphors. Smart Black and Rich is a product of Weaver applying his visionary mind as writer to publishing to help other black authors and promote literature relevant to the African American culture.

Weaver's publishing company has been rated as one of the top urban publishing companies. He has managed to recruit more than 26 new authors to his publishing company after being out of prison for only two years. In this short time frame, Weaver has also been honored with the African-Americans on the Move Book Club Literary Award for 2012 and 2013. His series, Bankroll Squad, has sold close to 60,000 copies to date.

Devotees of Weaver's writing have shown him an abundance of support -- even getting tattoos inspired by the book series to show their love for his work.

The Smart Black and Rich publishing company has catapulted Weaver to the forefront of the urban literary community as a new leader. The author wants to continue to instill the life lessons he has learned in prison to up-and-coming authors.

Weaver's very strong foundation of faith has brought him through his tumultuous time in prison to his newfound journey in publishing.

"Faith is believing in things unproven, seeing things unseen, and reaching for things not there yet," said Weaver.

Fans can look forward to other great works from David Weaver as well as from the other writers under the Smart Black and Rich imprint.

" Bankroll Squad" was my first read by David Weaver. I've had this since July 1st 2011. I kept pushing it back, saying I would get to it.When I finally decided to read it, after hearing all the great reviews, I couldn't believe I hadn't read it sooner. The story grabs you from the beginning and the characters are believable. It centers around Malcolm, a sexy Ga State University graduate, who is looking for nothing more than money, power, and respect. After entering the drug game,he and his crew, The 'Bankroll Squad' are living the good life until tragedy strikes, sending everything as they know it into an uproar.

David Weaver has written a wonderful tale of drugs, sex, betrayal, and deceit that is filled with twists and turns. The story line weaves effortlessly between characters. The Malcolm/ Kyla story line left me breathless and wanting more. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys an action packed read! Can't wait to read part 2. 5 stars!

Readers, I beg of you to broaden your reading horizon if you gave this book 5 stars!!!
The grammatical errors were too much to overcome. No real story, just a fly by the night scene of events that took place through-out the short book. I didn't mind that it was short, because I simply wanted it to end STAT!

I'm sorry, I can't recommend this book!

I don't understand the positive reviews for this book. I hated it! I managed to finish it, but only because I didn't have another book to read at the moment. The grammar was terrible, none of the characters were likable, and the sex scenes were gross. The book had detailed descriptions of what the characters were wearing, but nothing about the characters themselves. It was difficult to care about any of them.

I had this book on my kindle for a few months now I just can't get into. The story is all over the place and just not coming together at all. I have tried to read this book on 3 different occasions and I'm just not feeling it. What am I missing that everyone else seems to be getting from this book.

As I read, I kept thinking this was too much violence ... but I become curious about the characters' development ... I got caught up in the suspense... Wanted Kyra and Malcom to get to gether; but, thinking they had to paid their dues for all the drugs and killings .... Catfish is one character I'm anxious to follow

I stumbled upon book this while looking for an action mystery thriller in the Kindle 99 cent store. I guess you get what you pay for. I was prepared to suffer the usual misspellings, but the total lack of paragraph formatting took me by surprise. I thought, perhaps, the bad grammar was meant to mimic the language of the characters. But having suffered through many phrases such as "He had saw", "She hadn't went", "everyone were", this in the narration and not dialog, and more malapropes than usual in this genre, I was forced to conclude that the author is barely literate. The characters, as well as the book as a whole, have no redeeming value. When I realized that this is part one of a trilogy, I was tempted to check out the other two offerings, hoping that the main character would get what he deserved and not go on to lead a peaceful life, but then i worried that the author would garner a few cents from my meager monitary offering. I chose not to encourage him.

This had to be one of the worst books I have ever read. After a while it became a joke to me and I finished just to see how this piece of trash would end. Well, it didn't. Weaver left it a cliff-hanger for the next book. Sorry, I wouldn't read this for free - even deleted this one from my Kindle. Loads of typos, poor grammar and a plot that was ridiculous and filled with gross and gratuitous sex. An insult to African Americans.
