In a nutshell: With Bankruptcy of Our Nation, Jerry Robinson has done a good job of informing us about the current economic problems we are facing in the United States. He shows us why the value of the dollar is declining, and how debt has grown. He also shows us what the economy may look like in the future based on our current economy. His research is well-documented within each chapter, and the information he shares is easy to understand. Jerry Robinson ends the book by sharing with us twelve strategies for ensuring that your finances are protected in the uncertain future. These are very helpful strategies, and my only wish is that more of the book was spent discussing them. Overall, the book is very informative, insightful, and thought-provoking.

Format: The subjects within the book progress nicely, and are supported by documented research (endnotes of each chapter).

Readability: The book is written in a manner that is understandable for everyday people.

Overall: The book provides a lot of insight into how we arrived where we are, and what may happen if we keep doing what we've done. There are some very good actions to take in the last chapter to safe-guard your finances - I just wish this was a bigger focus of the book overall.

Jerry Robinson's timely read, "The Bankruptcy of our Nation", should have come out a year or so ago. But would we have paid attention to this message then? Maybe, but probably not. I know of several other books on this subject that have accurately watched trends and foretold of our current state of affairs that too few people read. But now that we're right in the midst of the economic madness, Robinson offers insight into various aspects of what is affecting our national and global financial issues including world banking, oil, the bailout, and historical perspective. This section is necessary so that we may be aware of trends and how history repeats itself. However, if the reader would only take note of the 12 key strategies the author presents to protect and build the reader's financial state, that would be worth picking up this book. Free online resources, sound Biblical advice and timeless quotes from admirable sources round out the text.

As a retired political science professor, I knew much of what the author discusses. Therefore, he was able to establish a level of credibility for me. He took that relationship to a new level by providing well-referenced new information, connecting the dots for me in several areas. I had already become a recovering conservative Republican; finding as much fault in Republican leadership as I had previously reserved for liberal Democrats. And as an evangelical Christian, I appreciated his connection to end times.

His greatest weakness is editing. Numerous spelling and grammar errors would deter some from taking him seriously. Having graded many major papers and theses, I have learned to look past that.

Do not read if you are subject to fits of depression. It is highly recommended for the pragmatist(if you are a depressed pragmatist do not even attempt to suffer through this review). In a nutshell, the party's over, now what am I to do to prepare myself and loved ones?

20 some-odd years ago another Christian author, Larry Burkett, sent up a flare, "The Coming Economic Earthquake", warning of a 'train wreck' if government fiscal policies did not change. At the time he was amazed that the American economy and people's faith in the dollar (read: fiat currency) was still as strong as it was. His warning was that the longer it took for economic factors to correct themselves and they would, the more severe the "correction" and the longer it would take to recover.

Now, two decades later, Robinson picks it up and explains all of the factors in the house of cards that today is teetering on the brink of collapse, both nationally and globally...and he does it where even I can understand it. He provides enough history, facts and very little opinion, to substantiate his premise, that as a country, financially, we're going 90 miles an hour down a dead-end street, heading for a wall of stone (Thanks, Hank). He is also good enough to suggest some steps that those who are conscious of the facts might begin to take to lessen the inevitable shock.

I don't agree with everything in the work, but those points are moot and have no bearing on the core of the facts. What was questionable 20 years ago, has now become a looming 900 pound gorilla sitting in America's living room and it isn't going to be ushered to the door by warm-fuzzy rhetoric and good intentions. Read the book, wake-up and smell the coffee, and prepare for a real ride. Whether one looks at the world through a lens of spirituallity, or "reality", or both, the events of our time are heading toward a common point...swiftly.

This book is one of several I have read and added to my library for reference in my many ongoing discussions about economics and the stealthy deception of the Federal Reserve, which invisibly creates money out of nothing and profits from lending it out to us at interest.

This legalized counterfeiting of fiat currency was passed by Congress in 1913, and causes the inflation which lines the bankers' pockets and empties ours. The author does a masterful job of explaining and documenting this historical pillaging of the American People without most of us even realizing we were being sold into debt slavery. STOP BENDING OVER FOR THE DEBT MASTERS!

See the courage of ordinary citizens in standing up to the credit monsters, representing themselves after being sued and DEFEATING a bank's collections attorney without ever filing for bankruptcy. It explains in detail exactly how they did it and what sources they could trust.

More of us should realize that we can stand up to the credit reporting agencies and the credit card companies that brought us to this brink of destruction, and educate each other about the strategies to pull ourselves back up out of this carefully laid debt trap.

After you read this book you won't feel guilty for not being able to pay... and that makes it well worth the small purchase price right there!

I was on a trip to Israel and Greece with the author back in November and heard him lecture on this subject then. I knew I had to have his book and follow his ministry. The book details out everything he talked to us about and more. Jerry Robinson knows what our government is doing to us and how it all works and spells it out so that anyone can understand even the nuances of our banking system and the Fed. This is knowledge that going to be essential in the days ahead for this country.

This is one of the best books I have EVER READ. Without a doubt everything in this book is the truth, and you know its the truth because every detail and comment is documented after each chapter and there are more books for reference that he recommends in the back of the book. Everything is just common sense but the gov't and the media try to cover it up.

All I can say is that Obama is ruining this country and this book only furthered my thoughts on that!

This well-researched book prepares me for the hyperinflation that should strike America, probably around 2020. I highly recommend you buy Jerry Robinson's book. I bought "Bankruptcy of Our Nation" about 40 days ago, from Amazon.com, and consider it the best investment I've ever made for under twelve bucks. :)

The trillions of unbacked-by-gold paper dollars printed by Washington in 2008-9 should eventually make the U.S. similar to the Weimar Republic of Germany in 1923, when a wheelbarrow of thousands of mark notes would buy a small loaf of bread.

Fix your investments to commodities (e.g. gold, silver, natural gas, oil) as soon as you can. Otherwise, open a wheelbarrow store and wait for the huge demand from folks wanting to buy a small loaf of bread in eleven years or so. :)

In honor of Tax Day, I thought I would review this book today. Bankruptcy of Our Nation by Jerry Robinson has been a really good, albeit depressing, read. And it has taken me quite awhile to get through it.

It isn't like there was a lot of new information for me, as with my accounting background, I do tend to keep reasonably up to date on this kind of thing. But wow, all together, the book was fairly depressing.

What I wish I would have done, and would recommend to others...

* Read the introduction.
* Read the last chapter. Chapter 18, Twelve Key Strategies for Weathering the Impending Economic Storm. This chapter is great. Now, will most people want to implement these twelve key strategies without the "why" of the previous 17 chapters? Probably not. So after reading that there is hope, then:
* Go back and read the rest of the book. Maybe returning to that last chapter after each section. To remind yourself that there is something YOU can do.

I think my favorite chapter (besides the final one) was The 2040 Crisis. Maybe because I have been arguing since I was 15, in my high school accounting class, that Social Security is a Ponzi scheme, and that, as a nation, we are screwed. And yes, I'm pretty sure that was the phrase I used in class. I probably would have used a different term outside of class, that being one I just can't bring myself to type on my family-friendly blog...

Basically, though, by 2040 (a point where, theoretically, I should be drawing social security) the social security program will be insolvent. Medicare will go bust far sooner. Now, I've read predictions about the insolvency of these programs for years, and we keep putting off the inevitable. But it is still inevitable. Combined with all the other huge issues outlined in this book, I'd think it is going to be sooner rather than later.

Truth is depressing sometimes. I think everyone really ought to read this book, and really think about what you can do now. I highly recommend this title.

The title of the book caught my eye along with the heading on the back of the cover. THE END OF THE AMERICAN EMPIRE. I like history but I am not a economist. This book explains many basic economic laws and shows the USA will NOT escape them.
It also gives us hope and some clear ideas to cope with this decline in our nations
world position. We can help ourselves and help others.. A good thing!
