I've used this book for 4 years and have found it to be one of the most helpful in designing and creating worship settings. The book takes you through each step from layout to example lettering and fabric adheasion. Wish there were more books like this on the market!

As a beginner in banner making, this book proved to be just what I needed to start what has blossomed into a large banner ministry. There is a wealth of information on the purpose, design, construction, display and storage of worship banners as well as pages of creative designs and suggested color schemes. It remaims my favorite in a growing library of banner books.

I have owned this book for several years and have made many of the banners shown. I have found it to be "my Bible of Banner books". Each banner is explained as to the season of the church year and each has great quality artwork. Thank you, Caro Jean Harms, for a great teaching guide.

Our team found this book very easy to follow in construction and information. We constructed 6 banners in a very short time by using this book and were VERY pleased as to 1-2-3 steps included. We recommend this one for usage of beginning users as well as those who have constructed them for awhile.

Hey! Just xerox the design page of the banner of your choice and get out the colored pencils. Color in the drawing and you have a good jumping off point to take to the fabric store. Pin swatches to the sheet for an easy reference. I have used several of the designs in the sanctuary and have received no complaints. Simple way to get started and has loads of info inside.
I would also recommend How to design and make banners for sacred and secular festivals by Banbury and Dewar (some color pics) AND Fabric applique for worship by Jerdee (NO color pics except cover & includes stoles and chausables). Both of these are for the more advanced, creative designers and seamstresses out there.

I was so very pleased with this book as well as Carol's "Quick and Easy Banner Designs." There are no duplicate patterns in this book, so don't think that if you order both you're going to get more of the same - you're not. More very high quality designs that provide basis for multiple banners if you mix and match the elements. The symbology is supurb and you might consider leaving off the words and letting the Spirit speak through the symbol as it will.
Again - can't recommend it enough. Covers the seasons very well.

Banners for Worship,
This review is from: Banners for Worship (Concordia Banner Craft) (Paperback)
I was hesitant to order this book as it was an older book. After receiving along with another newly published church banner book, there was no comparison. This book is wonderful. It covers every church holiday and gives several design patterns to pick from each category. There are no colored pics inside, but each pattern is color coded to help in the color process. If you have a pattern sizer on your computer, no need to worry about the task of enlarging by copier. There are so many choices, that I know I will be making more than the banner planned for my son's wedding. I am an experienced quilter and with so many choices of fabric to choose from today, no need to bother with felt. I am glad that I purchased this book!

Lots of banner designs,

I am a beginner banner maker. I put 4 banners in my church for Easter (2004)as well as using #34 as altar parament and the response was great. My challenge then was to keep the banners refreshed and seasonal. For the summer I used the design on front cover, main banner said "Seek and you will find" side panels said, "Heart, Soul, Mind" and "Faith, Mercy, Grace." The Praise God banner, p4 and 1 from from another book by Mrs. Harms (Quick and Easy Banners Designs)finished my summer display. Christmas I used the angel p34 and the angel from her other book, I rendered them in white satin, layered wings and glitter. Spectacular, Awasome designs. I also made several for Kid Kingdom from this book. Can't wait to make some more!

I thought the designs were outdated. The book is 20 years old and shows its age.
