5.0 out of 5 stars One of two essentials for Stainless Cookware
There are two essentials for stainless cookware -- Bar Keeper's Friend and vinegar.

Bar Keeper's Friend will remove the dark stains and those bits of food that don't quite come off after you heat up water in your pan. It serves the function of a cleanser without incorporating the grittiness that can mar the finish of your stainless.

1.0 out of 5 stars excellent product but extremely overpriced here...
*** WARNING ***

I was unfamiliar with this product until recently when we bought stainless steel cookware and didn't do any due diligence for a $5 item...my error! Lowe's sell a larger can of this same product for $1.97 so I paid way too much here, i.e., more than 3x too much...

So, what's the vinegar for? Salt or other factors can create a chemical reaction with the stainless that may generate colors that bear a remarkable resemblance to the colors of an oil streak -- blue and pink stains that cannot be scrubbed off. But, put some cider vinegar into some water and, voila, those oil-streak colors vanish!

Between the two, you can keep your stainless looking factory fresh for years. YOu don't need to use both each time out -- possibly neither. The nature of what you're trying to eliminate from your pans will tell you which to use.

I couldn't find this or any BKF products in any local stores, so we had to buy it online. I got it primarily because I have stainless steel cookware, and I was having issues with that annoying rainbow/discoloration on the insides of them. Some websites said my cookware was ruined, others recommended BKF. I am so happy I tried it! Not only does it take away the stainless discoloration effortlessly, but it also works on Corningware, Pyrex, and Corelle dishes. I had stains on my Corelle plates that had been there for years. It looked like rust. One swipe of the rag with some BKF (made into a paste) and those stains are history! I collect vintage Pyrex and it took some old, grey utensil marks right off the outside of one of my colored casserole dishes. My mom uses it to clean her porcelain sink and it works better than Soft Scrub, Bon Ami, or Comet. What a great cleaner from a long-established and reputable company!

I just bought a new set of stainless steel Cuisinart pots/pans from Amazon & read the reviews about how difficult they are to keep clean. One of the reviewers suggested Bar Keepers Friend to remove the rainbow stains that form on the bottom of pots/pans while cooking. Sure enough, the Bar Keepers Friend took ALL the stains off, both inside & out. This is amazing stuff & should be recommended to everyone who has a lot of stainless steel to clean. Thanks again, Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Faithful Customer For Over 20yrs, September 6, 2010
This review is from: Bar Keepers Friend Cookware Cleanser & Polish: 12 OZ
I used Bar Keeper Friend in the kitchen and bathroom.

I really like the job it does on the toilet ring.

I haven't used scouring pads, since I started using Bar Keepers.

I have a porcelain sink and the pots make marks, Bar Keepers cleans it right up.

I also, get rust spots around the ring of the drain and it takes that right out.

I had a Pyrex dish that had Pam stuck to it. I used Bar Keepers and it took it right off. I have used it to remove vanish from my hands, put in the drain to remove the sludge. You name it and I have used Bar Keepers Friend for it.

I don't spend money on alot of different products. I find that Bar Keeper is all that I need. It is amazing!!!

Stinky, but works GREAT!!!! All the brown burned on oil, the black burned areas come clean (well, mostly). Really, nothing works as well as this. Smells like metal when you use it, gives my wife a headache but I'm fine with it (I just hit the fan when I use it).

5.0 out of 5 stars The Homeowners Friend Too!, July 26, 2010

We have used stainless steel cookware for years and for years I struggled to keep it looking clean and shiny. Then I discovered Bar Keepers Friend and decided to try it out; that was a truly fortunate decision as it not only works, but it works very well indeed!

Before discovering BKF I would use steel pads, 3M pads, Comet and lots of elbow grease to try and get the marks out of the cookware. I could sometimes plan on spending several minutes trying to remove the stains from the cookware.

With the BKF I wash the cookware, leave it wet and sprinkle in a small amount of BKF; I then take a paper towel and spread it all around the cookware, rubbing gently with the paper towel and then wash it out. The pan is bright and sparkling and better than I was ever able to get it before.

Previously, when using the scrub pads, I would rub so hard I left scratches on the cookware; now I'm able to do a better job in seconds where it took minutes to do an inferior job.

Another benefit of the BKF is it can be used to clean ceramic cook tops. This simplifies the clean-up process as I can now use one product to do the job it was taking two to do before and it takes much less time.

If you use stainless steel cookware and haven't tried Bar Keepers Friend do yourself a really big favor and buy some right away. You'll be happy you did!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, July 14, 2010

This item was recently recommended to me, but I cannot find it locally in Central Illinois. I got it very fast thru the Internet, and went right to work on my pots & pans.

I am a male, and not very domesticated. Not much of a cook, but I try. These are my mothers pots & pans, and she would turn over in her grave if she saw the condition of here pride & joy. After one application of this product, she would be more pleased with her favorite son. Unfortunately, after years of neglect, these pots & pans are on the road to looking shiny and new. The first application did a wonderful job of eliminating a few years. Better than anything I've tried before. More applications are in order!

A must have for stainless steel cookware. My wife absolutely scorched our All-Clad fry pan when 'browning' chicken. I ordered Bar Keepers Friend Cookware cleaner and without too much elbow grease the pan is now looking like new. More minor blemishes come out instantly.
