4.0 out of 5 stars Barack Obama in His own words
Barack Obama in his own words.
This was helpful as a quick guide to see where he had stood, using exerpts from prior interviews.
It is the sort of thing you want to take with you when riding the train or bus. Nothing in depth.

2.0 out of 5 stars Out of context quotes
This book is a collection of quotes taken from various speeches and comments made by Barak Obama. 2.0 out of 5 stars Out of context quotes, June 26, 2007

This review is from: Barack Obama in His Own Words (Paperback)
This book is a collection of quotes taken from various speeches and comments made by Barak Obama. While it is informative in some ways, I hesitate to accept quotes that are taken from a larger text, interview, or speech simply because the context is missing. When a quote is taken out of a larger whole, sometimes the meaning can be misconstrued. If you are already strongly familiar with Obama, this book probably tells you things that you already know. If you are not, it is a good idea to read other books as well as transcripts of Obama's speeches so that you can form your own opinions as to how these comments should be taken. For real insight into Barak Obama, I suggest that you read "Dreams From My Father."

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best source for Obama, February 22, 2008

Barack Obama In His Own Words is interesting and would be useful as a research tool for anyone writing about Obama, but it is nowhere near as interesting as his own books, all of which are insightful and fascinating.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Insight into Obama, October 28, 2007
This review is from: Barack Obama in His Own Words (Paperback)
This is an "easy read", but very informative. I would like to see this type of publication for every candidate for public office. I finished the book in one session. I found out a lot about Obama that I did not know.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Hear the Words of President Brack Obama", December 14, 2008
This review is from: Barack Obama in His Own Words (Paperback)
I was so please to read the writing of Presidents Barack Obama. He knew the challeges he would face running for the president of the United States of America. He stood fast and followed his dream. This faith in his heart and in my Heavenly Father, let all us know that we can achieve any thing possible if we only believe in ourselves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Barack Obama in His Own Words Lisa Rogak, October 30, 2009
Lisa Rogak does a thorough job showing the real Barack Obama in her book "Barack Obama in His Own Words." She includes many quotes from his campaign and others from various sources. These quotes put together a vivid picture of who Obama is and what he believes about topics such as war, abortion, nuclear weapons, change, other presidents, etc I liked how she separated the book into sections for easy reference and a more concise description. I learned a lot about him as a politician but there are quotes about his family as well. I feel that a person's character is very crucial to how he performs his job so I enjoyed reading all his thoughts in one place. This book is short and easy to read through. I recommend everyone read it to get to know your president better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Revealing and Interesting, October 29, 2009
By

Obama in His Own Words by Lisa Rogak is easy to read and very eye opening. The quotes are from speeches and are separated in categories such as The People, On Issues, On America, On Slip up's and others. I felt he spoke in a way that everyone could understand as well as being honest and believable. I was particularly surprised on the section that contained his quotes on the slip up's in his life. I felt he was being very honest and straightforward. If you are an Obama fan or one who is in the middle you will like this book. If you are not an Obama fan you will simply pick this book and him apart. If you read it with an open mind I am sure you will enjoy it. I felt he did not try to cross talk or talk in a way that was deceptive but was honest and forth coming about his beliefs.

This book holds the audience when you first pick it up. The color picture on the cover is what attracted me to the book. As you read through the book you can identify with him. It certainly holds your attendion because you feel as if he is speaking right to you. Yes, it is in his own words.

1.0 out of 5 stars A unpleasant surprise, January 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was very dissapointed by the size and contents in this bok. It is so small it can hold in the palm of your hand. I wish they had specified the size because I would not have purchased it. Did not return it because of the aggravations to do so.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, Great Man!!!, December 12, 2007
By
Kenneth D. Harris III (Rapid City, SD United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The previous reviewers assertion that Barack Obama is a Muslim is blatantly false! It is but one of several variants of the same tired story of twisted facts whose implication is that this good and decent man, a true shining star in American politics, is somehow intent on fooling the voting (and reading) public, sneaking into the Whitehouse, once there to don a turban and wreak havoc on the whole of Christianity and the standards of American decency it alone purports loudly to define, and itself apparently responsible for sooooooo much goodness in the world at large. What amazes me about the aforementioned ridiculous "review" is not so much that it appears here in the first place, but rather that the reviewer is obviously more willing to embrace this nonsense than to spend even a few minutes checking the facts to quickly disprove it. The book is good, the man is even better, the previous conspiracy-peddling reviewer is an idiot, and symptoms abound as Christian Nationalism is alive and well in America!
