The Cap Steps are back with trademark political humor, turned on the Obama administration, just in time for Christmas. Yes, all the tracks are funny and NO political figure will be spared, except, surprisingly, George W. We enjoyed the parody, but must caution, as with all humor, not everyone will find everything funny. The singing is good and the music okay. So have an egg nog to sit back and listen. Good for a few spins this year, but may be dated by 2010.

Perhaps the one good thing about this CD was the length (or lack thereof). Almost none of the songs except for the 12 days of Twitter and the Night Before X-mas (which was still in pretty poor taste, given the racist nature of the song) generated anything more than perhaps a courtesy laugh from me or my family, who have been listening to the Capitol Steps for over a decade, and are loathe to admit that they have significantly declined in terms of quality over the years. Of course, it could just be me, getting older and getting more humourless. But I doubt it, given that the rest of my family disliked it as well. Save your money this year.
