An amazing text with an amazing history,

A must have for the student of religion and history. This is one of about half a dozen Ethiopic text E.A. Wallis Budge translated at the end of his life. The story of the Buddha thinly disguised as a christian novel, that eventually made its way to the centre of Africa to be translated in Ethiopic. Budge included the acts of Thomas, or the legends of "Doubting Thomas missionary of India" which is the foundation of the story of Baralam and Yewasef. Also included are a rich collection of wood cuts. The only drawback is the on demand publishing 'Kessinger Publishing' edition currently in print, well worth the $50 purchase price
