About the Brand
In 1971, 17-year-old Barbara Jaffe opened a small bakery in northern California. Determined to provide the best-tasting natural baked goods possible, her bakery soon grew from a storefront start-up to a thriving wholesale business. Barbara and her family sold the company in 1986, but at Barbara's Bakery we remain steadfastly committed to producing natural products made without preservatives, artificial ingredients, hydrogenated oils or refined white sugar. We care about making the right food choices as much as you do. All of our products will always adhere to our high standards for taste, quality, and the purity of the ingredients we use.
Over the years, we've expanded our product line to include cereals, crackers, cookies, chips and snack bars (under the Nature's Choice brand name). Though we've grown considerably from that little storefront, we are still a family owned business, dedicated to an all-family approach to our products. Good health is multi-faceted, and is affected by issues ranging from job satisfaction to snacking. It is our philosophy that everything we do as a company be "healthy," from the products we create to our community contributions, from the types of packaging we use to our strict ingredient standards.
All of us at Barbara's Bakery do our part to shape our products and our company philosophy. We are completely and personally committed to the development of natural, good-tasting cereals and snacks that suit a wide variety of healthy lifestyles.
Brighter Future
The Barbara's Bakery health-friendly approach is not just limited to the products we make. We are committed to making every aspect of our business philosophy socially responsible. Recycled materials are used in packaging whenever possible and in 1993 we introduced a program called "Barbara's for a Brighter Future." Through this program, we've donated over a million dollars, along with employees' time and energy, to local and national organizations involved in environmental, hunger and children's issues. To further extend the impact of our employees' efforts, we have put in place an unusual policy. For every hour an employee donates to a non-profit organization, Barbara's contributes $10 to that organization.

This product allows for fast and easy chemical-free one dish meals when adding chicken broth and frozen veggies and a meat of choice. The mashed potatoes on their own made with broth is a fabulous comfort food. I've given the potatoes in care packages for friends when they are ill. I really miss being able to buy this product. I'm on the search for it.

these mashed potatoes are a bit remiss in the texture department but overall taste is good, and preparation couldn't be quicker or easier!

I am so glad to finally have an alternative that does not have all of the preservatives of the conventional brands! OK, so the taste could be a little bit improved, but these potatoes do pass my picky family's standards. These potatoes are really great with soymilk substituted for the cows milk too!
