If you want your bacon flat.

If you like BLT's with flat bacon, get a set of these. I haven't yet tried them on my burgers... That will come this weekend.

I have a big flat iron griddle and I purchased a set about 2 weeks ago to try on it. They worked well enough that I had to order another set today.

They are cast iron, so if you do wash them, immediately dry them or else you will have rust spots on them quickly (like I did on the first set... sat them in the dish drainer and forgot about them for an hour).

Overall, I liked these enough to recommend them to anyone who is even thinking about a set. Cheap enough (even with S&H) to make them a bargain, and a must have to any short order cook in training.

The item was delivered quickly, performed as anticipated and is something that I continually head for when I cook steaks, burgers, bacon and for that matter any flat meat. If you take the time to pre-heat the weight it will assist in cooking the item as well as keeping your food pressed on the cooking surface ensuring uniform contact with the hot surface. Cleanup is breeze and I am confident that this item will hold up for years to come as long as I do not try something foolish like bouncing them on cement floor or make an extreme temperature change.

Please NOTE this item is not recommended for hitting your better half or spouse to get their attention. They are heavy and might leave permanent marks .... bad attempt at humor.

Honestly, I could not be happier with this purchase and would give it ten stars if that were permitted.

They are nice and heavy, professional quality, and work perfectly for everything from bacon to paninis.

I am very happy with my purchase of cast iron steak and bacon weights. The bottom of the weights has a nice grid of small squares that keeps the meat flat and spreads heat evenly throughout the face of the weight. You don't get wrinkles in your meat or bacon from typical picture patterns of pigs. These weights are perfect for cooking all types of meats, any meats you want to cook on a grill or large fy pan.

I use the press with a ex-large cast iron frying pan since it's too large to fit any pan that is smaller. works excellent to cook evenly and in less time. Beware though, it's heavy, but the handle does not get hot. I've not used it on a grill yet so that may change things. It's a purchase I'm very happy with. The bacon cooks flat and crisp just like in a restaurant.

I'm in the process of seasoning my favorite cast iron skillet, so I decided to season this new grill weight too. Ya know kill two birds with one stone ;-) You must unscrew the wood handle to do this, which makes it easy to place in the oven "grill side up", see photo. * Note: I use standard raw linseed oil, it's much cheaper then the organic stuff.

This press works well, if your not used to useing one

you will have to adjust your cooking time abit it makes

things cook faster! I seasoned mine b4 use, not sure it needed

but cleans easy so no harm huh? good buy, covers two small

I'm not convinced the textured surface is an improvement over a plain flat bottom. It works fine in cooking but is tedious to clean with all the grooves. Nothing wrong with the quality, cast iron is cast iron...the wood handle seems to be fine and the design is okay in how it reduces heat conduction to the handle by having small mounting cast into the piece.

I'm very happy with this product. Was thinking about obtaining one for some time and glad I finally took the plunge. It's sturdy and well put together. I mostly use it for steaks. Would recommend it to others without hesitation.
