Product Description

The EGrill is small on size but huge on performance. With elite engineering and design, the EGrill gets hot enough to sear a steak retaining heat and creating perfectly cooked food without dealing with any gas. This lightweight, table top, portable grill is the perfect solution for small patios, apartment balconies, camping trips, and tailgating events. The EGrill patented cooking system known as Crossray offers high heat output (up to 570 F/300 C) using infrared tube elements and reflectors. The infrared system emulates the sun's rays, where heat is transferred and absorbed by an object without physical contact. With this system the infrared heat penetrates food more thoroughly resulting in more even cooking and longer heat retention. A conventional gas grill heats first by direct heat transfer and second by circulating hot air around the food. This process often causes dry food from the hot air. Infrared energy has the opposite effect, sending the infrared heat deep into the food leaving the moisture intact. This process enhances flavor and creates a succelence that is difficult to replicate with other cooking systems.

Waste of money December 26, 2011

I am extremely disappointed with this grill. Since I purchased it I've used it a few times, and every time the food comes out looking and tasting like a sponge. It doesn't provide enough temperature to cook even tuna steak. I just wasted four great fresh tuna steaks, which were a total loss.

I would be happy to return this piece of scrap metal, but it was about 7 months since I got it, so, I am afraid - no luck.

I have a gas grill and a charcoal grill and like them both but thought I'd try this one because of the .15 cents per hour low operating cost, and I liked the idea of cooking on the back deck during the hot summer months instead of in the kitchen. I didn't like the taste of the hamburgers or steaks on this grill as compared to the gas grill. They tasted like they were cooked on a George Formen. The meat was juicy however.
I found this grill to do very well for broiled fish (cooked on a nonstick flat pan)or bacon and eggs.

This grill has two infrared elements and the temperature setting is ether high or low, (one or both elements). The infrared heat elements turn on and get hot instantly.

Looks great, cooks OK June 8, 2011
Bought this grill because wanted something that looked different than a gas grill, and for a small family. The cooking is great, although does not leave the grill marks as predominent as a gas grill, but the meat was very juicy and had the grilled taste. It does smoke from the dripping meat. At first I was disappointed with the cleaning process, the instructions do not clearly define this. My gas grill you used a wire brush, and mostly burnt off the residual. With EGrill the residual gets burned on, I mean really burned on from the intense heat, and tends to cake up. After the second use, I took the 2 screws out that was holding the grate in place (read somewhere else, these are only used for shipping, although instructions are inadequate in this regard) took the grate and the 2 pieces below the grate to the kitchen sink and scrubbed them up nicely. The grate cleans more easily than the other 2 aluminum pieces. All-in-all I'm please with EGrill, but the clean-up is more difficult than a gas grill, plus I think a gas grill gives more overall flavor from the burnt on stuff.
