4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly, one of the better Barbie toys. But expensive
This was actually one of the better Barbie toys. After Mariposa (whose wings never stayed on or worked), the Elephant from Island Princess (which never caught one of the girls with its trunk and was boring), or even Princess Ro (whose peacock feathers never stayed on), this seems to be holding up well. 3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun Until for the Kids, but Expect the Wings to Break!
We got this horse for my daughter at Christmas. She loves this horse, to this day. The day we bought it she dropped it and one of the wings broke where it plugs into the horse's body. I wanted to take it back and get our money, call it an easy to break piece of junk, and move one. However, my daughter desperately wanted another one. We got it and inside of two weeks...

And seems to be really enjoyed for beyond a single day by my daughter.

The play value is there - if you jiggle the horse in the air it prompts a flying sound. There is a little button at the bottom of a hoof so that if you push down on the horse, the button is pressed and the horse makes clip clop noises. If you push its mouth open, it sounds like it is eating (and will eventually make a sound like it doesn't like more). And if you leave it alone after playing with it, it will make sleeping noises. Unfortunately, as with all Barbie toys, there is always something that doesn't work. In the case of 'brushing' it with the comb (its supposed to make happy noises), it doesn't sense when you are combing and my 5 year old has to yank on the hair to get that particular sound out. And I really mean yank - which I'm not sure I like encouraging her to do to any animal. The horse also randomly plays the 'connected' song and lights up prettily.

I'd highly recommend this toy if only it wasn't so expensive. And let's be honest here, there are a LOT more toys that might be more interesting or educational than this one and for a lot cheaper. I would expect this to be priced around $35 to be a decent choice for a good toy value and product.

And surprisingly, I would have liked for better product placement in the video. This character is NOT in the dvd other than in the background being turned to stone with another horse behind two minor characters. When I bought the horse, I had thought there would have at least been a scene in the DVD that my daughter could relate to - but she asks me 'where is the Glimmer horsie in the movie?" and then asks which of the two horses in the background is Glimmer - and I can't tell. I had thought one of the main characters would have at least rode or been given the horse. The grapes that it eats seem pretty random. Perhaps Glimmer is in a book or other story place?

I wanted to take it back and get our money, call it an easy to break piece of junk, and move one. However, my daughter desperately wanted another one. We got it and inside of two weeks she broke a wing again. I've since repaired the same wing a few times as best I could until it was just too broken to repair any longer. She still wants a new one for her birthday. I guess you have to decide if this sounds good to you or not.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly Made, Broken Out Of The Box, May 13, 2010
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

I bought this for my daughter, who so badly wanted a "horse with wings." One of the wings was broken at the base DURING MANUFACTURE, packed, and shipped that way. So no quality control, and shipped broken. Not the store's fault. Mattel's fault. This is actually the second Barbie product I have purchased which was broken out of the box (the first was a doll with a broken neck connection). Time was, parents would marvel at Barbie toys and how durable, and safe, they were. Long gone, junk, junk, junk, cheap lowest bidder made in China and never checked junk. And you know, it is a pain to return products (you have to take them away from your child to do that). So the horse is here, without wings, broken on the floor. And my daughter, bless her, she does not complain because daddy bought it for her. But Mattel, forget about them. Go find another toy, and another toy maker, for your child.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than most Barbie horses, January 14, 2009

I bought this for my daughter on clearance at a local retailer and was very pleasantly surprised what a great toy this is. We have several Barbie/Disney horses and this is by far the best. It's simple, the horse stands on its feet and is not overly tippy. It lights up and makes some nice sounds but is not overly done.

I gave the horse 4 stars instead of five only because I anticipate issues with the wings -- they seem delicately attached and not overly sturdy.

My daughter absolutely loves it. I'm not sure I would pay the list price, but it's a great toy if you can find it on sale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy for imagination, September 2, 2008

I really like this toy because it is electronic and fun, but encourages imagination. The horse gallops or flies depending on how you play with it, so my daughter still needs to make her own choices on how to play. She gets to interact with the horse by feeding and grooming it too. Great fun.

I bought this for my six year old granddaughter and she loves it! That's an understatement. She says it is her favorite toy and I am the best grammie every for giving it to her. This horse lights up and makes horse sounds including the cloppity clop sound horses make when they gallop. She plays with it for hours and her friends all want a turn with it. I just love seeing the smile on her face when she plays with this - it's a magical horse and perfect for little girls who dream of fairies and princesses.

My granddaughter loves this horse. I am a little worried because it is a bit fragile and reviews said the wings can break off. So far so good.

My daughter wanted this toy badly so I shelled out $50.00 for the plastic horse through Amazon. It is supposed to light up and make music. It didn't.

Inside, the batteries had corroded and the wires were mixed up.

I got out my tools, rewired it, and bought new batteries so as not to disappoint my daughter.

She was pleased with the toy when it worked.

I won't expose my child to battery acid, rusty wires, and disappointment from Barbie or her vendors again.

My child loves this toy. The wings are a bit fragile for a child's toy but it has survived in our house with lots of reminders to be gentle with it. But very nice toy. My child loves to play with it. It lights up and makes all of the sounds as it is suppose to make.

this horse lights up, makes real eating sounds, and is interactive. I was blown away by it and so was my 7 year old daughter. She had asked for a pegasus for Christmas and I bought this one. Its a great barbie addition, very cute!
