2.0 out of 5 stars Not a quality toy
My daughter received these today for her birthday. The only support to hold the dolls up is a little tiny clip that the dolls leg snaps into and ones of ours has already broke. The dolls limbs are so loose that they don't stand up straight. The dolls will not stand up to dance around. They should have called this toy "12 Falling Princesses". What a total disappointment...

What a total disappointment for little girls. Don't they test these toys before they market them? Don't waste your money unless you only want the dolls.

4.0 out of 5 stars We like them ..., December 8, 2006

I bought these for my girls, since the 12 Dancing Princesses is their current favorite movie, and amazon had them for 70% off with the free shipping deal. My girls are just 2 and 3, and they've had no problems using the stands. I automaticly threw away the little plastic stand things, and the dolls seem to do just fine with standing with only one foot snapped into the base. And that's with my 3 year old doing it. We aren't picky though.

I was supprised at first, because their hair is very crunchy - it almost felt like they used super glue for styling, but now that the dolls have been played with for a couple weeks, they have softened out. It is actually nice, because their hair hasn't gotten horribly tangled like most the barbies we buy - they still have curly ringlets. I appreciated that the shoes did NOT come off - it's perfect for my younger girls, but might frusterate an older child, since they always need new dancing shoes in the movie.

Also, these are the twins, so they are smaller than a normal barbie. Their arms can be shaped into ballet possitions, and my daughter has been using them as dancing dolls to hold when she practices her ballet. Their outfits come off, but unlike most barbies, my girls havn't had much interest in undressing them ... they like the ballerina outfits too much.

I would reccomend them at the 70% off price Amazon had them for, but I don't know if I would have bought them at the full price. I'm glad we have them, and for the deal we got, we're happy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad product design, November 11, 2006

My daughter also received this as a 4th birthday gift. It is a terrible design. The dolls flop over and do not snap into the stand. I thought they were battery operated, but you are suppose to make them dance by pushing them across the floor. However, they don't really twirl around like they are suppose to. I can't believe they can sell such poorly designed toys.

I thought this was a great toy for the money. It made a nice addition to the DVD my 6 year old got for Christmas. True, the dolls don't dance very well because the base does not roll on the floor very smoothly, but my daughter isn't very interested in that part of the toy. The two dolls are very pretty and look like dancers in their costumes. My daughter was very pleased with this toy and the price on Amazon was excellent.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice dolls to play with, ok on the stand, not as pretty as the other dolls., January 14, 2007
This review is from: Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses: Princess Isla and Princess Hadley (Toy)
My daughter received these from Santa this Christmas and loves them because they are part of the Twelve Dancing Princesses. At first we did not even use the stands because she also received the Carriage and most all of the other dolls. Now that she has used the stands it is an OK toy.

They are not the prettiest Barbie sister types I have ever seen though. It seems like they look a bit like Celine Dion to me and that's a little scary! But they remind me of the Skipper line of Barbie sisters as they are bigger than Kelly as if in the tween stage!

They do have VERY Loose limbs, and when you try to make them dance they just end up tipping over and look like they are doing some kind of modern expression dance instead of graceful ballet. And they almost always fall out of the Carriage since they can not sit up well do to the "double joints". All in all an OK buy that my daughter likes but wish they were a bit sturdier.

4.0 out of 5 stars My 5 year old loves these Barbies!, December 27, 2006

I got these for my daughter and I was surprised to find out that these Barbies are a bit smaller than the full size Barbie, but quite a bit bigger than the Kelly dolls. My daughter likes to call them Barbie Teenagers! There are a couple of tricks to the dolls, first you have to make sure you have Barbies rear positioned correctly on the stand because if she faces the wrong way she will fall and that won't be any fun for the kids. Secondly, you have to make sure the stand is in tight on the platform. Third, when you position Barbies limbs, for example, with her leg up, it is best to put her hand in front of her foot rather than behind. That way her leg does not fall. Other than those few things this toy is super fun to play with. The two platforms come apart so the Barbies can spin seperately or they can lock together. The colors of aqua and purple are really beautiful, and I love the fact that the shoes are permanantly attached to the feet. I get so tired of vacuuming up the little Barbie shoes. That gave me an idea to hot glue all of the Barbie shoes on from now on. Each doll has a beautiful crown and perfectly styled hair. I would not hesitate to buy this again for any young girl!

4.0 out of 5 stars Got to clip the doll on correctly, December 18, 2006
This review is from: Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses: Princess Isla and Princess Hadley (Toy)
My 5 year old received this as a Christmas gift and was quite pleased. We have had no problems with the girls staying on their stands as others have reviewed. The trick is that the girls' straight leg clips onto the side of the stand in the holder and she has to straddle over the top of it also. It did take a minute for us to figure that out as it was not clearly addressed in the directions. The girls make lovely poses for dancing. Overall, my daugter really enjoys this toy and how the dancers twirl. We have not had a problem with the quality of this toy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Design, November 20, 2006
This review is from: Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses: Princess Isla and Princess Hadley (Toy)
I agree with the other reviews. This is a very pood design. My daughter was SO excited to get these and they have sat around since she got them for her bday in Sept. The dolls never stay in the holder.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor design BUT still fun to play with, January 12, 2007
This review is from: Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses: Princess Isla and Princess Hadley (Toy)
As stated in previous reviews the design of this toy is really poor. The dancing stands are really dumb. Unless you put the dolls on just right they don't really work. My daughter never even plays with the stands.
She does however, love these Barbies! She loves their hair, their costumes, everything! Everyday her and her sister play with them and the Princess Genevieve. A great buy--just don't expect a lot from the dance stands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, takes a little effort, December 25, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses: Princess Isla and Princess Hadley (Toy)
My six year old sister got this as a Christmas gift. At first, we were frustrated and thought this toy was junk like most of the other reviews, but then we tried to straddle the doll on top of the clip in stead of it just standing. IT WORKED PERFECTLY. It just took a little effort.
My only problem with the toy is that you have to slide around the stands, it would have been better if they were battery powered.
Just remember, It is a very good product, but takes a little effort and patience for it to work properly.
