I went to assemble this bike (supposed to take 15 minutes -- ha!). Trouble was, the fork for the front tire didn't fit the tire properly. After doing some research, calling Dynacraft (which makes the Barbie bike) and talking to our local bike shop, I found out that this is a common problem with Dynacraft bikes. The company blamed it on the shippers and said the fork probably got bent in the shipping process. Maybe ... but all they could do was suggest I return the bike for a new one ... or they could send me a replacement part -- one that WOULDN'T MATCH the current bike. Yeah, right, like I'm gonna do that. It's five days before Christmas, so I bit the bullet and took it to the bike shop. For $35, they fixed the problem in less than an hour and did a check on the entire bike. Do yourself a favor -- go to a bike shop and pay the extra few bucks for a bike that you know is safe and assembled correctly (and not just by someone at a toy store). I'll be doing that next time.

No rear wheel brakes handle,

Yes, it is a nice bike, assembling it is not difficult, it took me probably ½ hour but you need to be aware of this: There are two identical models of this bike, same size but one has the rear break handle and the other one has the rear break built into the pedals so if your kid moves the pedals backwards the bike will stop. I realize this fact after assembling when my 4 year old daughter tried to ride it and she couldn't move the pedals because they were in a vertical position. She is used to a previous bike where she can move the pedals backwards in order to initiate momentum, in this model that will activate the real wheel break. This is a deal breaker for us so we will exchange it for the one that comes with the rear wheel break handle.
