Barbie 80's Cher Bob Mackie Doll

I am by no means a doll collector, but I do think Cher is awesome so when this doll was released, in one of my favorite iconic Cher outfits no less, I had to snatch one up. Well, two actually, lol. One to take out of the box and enjoy as a novelty, and the other to keep in its original packaging, which with its sleek black finish and holographic background is nearly as gorgeous as the doll itself.

I've never reviewed a Barbie before, so I'm not quite sure what to say that isn't evident in the photos. The likeness to the real Cher is actually very good (insert plastic joke here), though the cheekbones probably could have been slightly more exaggerated, and the hair is kind of lumpy from being squished in the package. The outfit is an exact replica of the costume she wore during the Turn Back Time/Strong Enough segment of her 2002/2003 Farewell Tour, which in itself was an updated version of the piece she wore in the 1989 Turn Back Time music video. I will say I was just a little disappointed that it didn't include the infamous thong, but I suppose that might have looked strange on a Barbie doll.

Like I said, I'm no Barbie enthusiast, I just buy what I like. But I am curious why, after about two years of being on the market, this particular doll has not seen the increase in value that other Cher dolls have had recently. Maybe it was made in greater numbers than say, the Half Breed Indian Chief Cher doll, which I also have, but it did come out around the same time in the same Black Label line. Anyway, that's not important. It's still a smokin' hot doll and a real conversation piece when friends come over.

if you are any thing like me and enjoy cher as i do and have for most of my life then this doll is a must have.from the piont of the barbie doll colector if you know any thing about barbie you will know that any cher barbie dolls made seems to just go up in value.lets not forget the designer of this doll is bob mackie whos dolls seem to just go up and up and up in value.so it was a very easy choice for me this doll was a must have for my colection.

I purchased this doll because I love Cher - she is a wonderful addition to my already nice collect of dolls. I would not agree to taking her out of the box and pouring hot then cold water on her head as the previous reviewer did, that will most certainly depreciate her value, but if you are not looking for the value of the doll and want her to look like she should, then that is a great idea!
Over all, I love my Cher doll, I just wish that Bob Mackie would create one of her with the black head dress and low shirt with netting shirt. I'd be first in line to get that one

This doll is so awesome. But I think mattel made a mistake by saying that the outfit the doll is wearing was from the "TBT" video, its the outfit from the "Living Proof: the farewell tour. She comes out singing "strong enough", then she removes the jacket and sings "if I could turn back time". When I got her out of the box her hair was a frizzball, so I sat her down on the sink and poured boiling water on her head for ten seconds and immediatly poured cold water and that straighten her hair a litttle but it still kept her gorgeous curls. Overall I would rate ten stars if I could. I would recomend tis doll to any cher lover like me!!!

it was a gift to my daughter in law she never had dolls growing up so i bought it for her and she was like a child loving it lololol

this is mainly about the hair and how to fix the frizz afro curly look


love this doll took her out of the box and put her on display with the rest of my cher dolls i kept her hair on the hair net that way it says in good shape mine was not as flat like more of a rounded shape i kept it on the net because of the people that said it was frizzy her curls are tight not like a wave an the some body said it was like a afro big and huge what he did is put a little no frizz hair oial and brushed it through with a wig brushs it looked so much better it was like a wet curl i would do it if i was taking the net off but im not thats my choice if any one dose it give me feedback! grassgum@yahoo.com thanks

I was amazed at how good the likeness is to the real person, except that Cher doesn't have blue eyes in real life. The face is beautiful, the hair is cool and the outfit is pretty hot (for a doll). My friends and I have had lots of laughs, posing "Cher" in different locations and photographing it. Good job, Mattel! Now start making Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks and Lita Ford dolls for your "Ladies of the 80s" collection!

It's a great doll, looks exactly like CHER, amazing. It came inside the box, in an execellent condition. I am very happy with that.

Bought this for a 40th birthday gift for a male friend who is a huge Cher fan - he loved it and has been shopping for more!

This is really not a toy, but a replica of Cher and a famous outfit. It is well done and for those who are Cher fans, it is well worth adding to a collection.
