5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Marilyn Monroe Barbie doll
I grew up with Barbies as a child in the 70's, and now I collect them as an adult, these doll's are just pure fun and lots of fantasy!! I mostly collect repros and pop culture and I have all the Marilyn Barbies. This year is Barbies 50th anniversary and I must say they have really made buying hard to resist! This new Marilyn doll is gorgeous! I think Mattel did a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Marilyn Monroe Blonde Ambition Barbie Doll
Beautiful doll, beautiful dress. But she is not something to play
with. All you can really do is stare at her through the transparent plastic box. With her arms posed as she is, she is
nothing but a statue. If her arms could bend and stretch, then
she would have been fun to play with. But both her arms stay on
her hips, and there is not much you...

I think Mattel did a wonderful job recreating Marilyn's soft face, dreamy sad eyes, and sexy open mouth lips. Her glamorous eye poping, neck plunging, gold dress is from one of her most famous photo's, she also wore the dress in the 1953 movie "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". There is also film footage of her receiveing an award in this dress. The doll comes with a pair of very cute gold sling back heels, dazzling golden earrings, her nails and toes are painted red, and also comes with a stand. The box has lovely art pictures of Marilyn with a bit of info about her career and influence on the cluture. I think this is more for a adult collector. This is the first doll in the "Blonde Ambition collection". I think anyone who loves Marilyn would be happy with this doll! I can't wait to see the next doll in the collection and hope Mattel will make a new Farrah Fawcett doll, I think it's time for a Farrah doll, as she was as much of a beloved icon of the 70's, as Marilyn was to the 50's!

UPDATE: The New Farrah Fawcett Barbie doll is coming in fall of 2011, she will be dressed in her famous red swimsuit poster!!

This doll is gorgeous. I bought it for my Best Friend as a gift. She adores Marilyn and she will love this! It is beautiful and made so well. The details are great, the gown is so pretty. I think that if you are a fan or a collector, she is a must have! Worth every penny!

I love this doll. It is classic Marilyn Monroe! I used to have a picture of Marilyn wearing this dress back in college, and I was ecstatic to find her wearing that very dress! It's a must have for any fan!

I like this Barbie collector doll very much and have hung it like a picture on my wall in the box (with a couple of others)to display it as she looks great in the box. She is well made, great hair, great box for display hanging and the outfit looks very good and she has a pretty face, earrings and red nail polish on her fingernails.

Kind regards,

I wish Mattel would make a Marilyn Monroe doll with elbows and
knees that could bend and stretch, like the Fashionistas dolls
they make. Those dolls are truly posable. Not a statue like this
Marilyn doll is. I am disappointed with this. But kept it for the
memory.
