The Barbie ATM machine is the perfect primer for little girls (or boys) who want to do big things with their cash. Just like a real ATM, this one features lots of clean, crisp "B" money, and a fistful of plastic, including AMEX and ATM cards. Kids have to enter a pin number, use the functional scanner, and push the appropriate buttons to withdraw or deposit their Barbie funds, which pop out in a motorized drawer. An LCD screen prompts functions, and a microphone allows kids to pretend they're tellers. It seems awfully materialistic that Barbie has an ATM machine (which even uses Barbie's perfect voice to encourage use) but, actually, it's quite a good investment for kids--and parents. The machine has game and learning functions for adding, subtracting, counting, calculating, quizzing, and simple math problems. It's also a real savings bank that holds and tracks cash deposits--and only its owner can withdraw the money. Choking hazard: small parts. Not for children under 3 years of age. Hey I'm ten years old and this is the best toy! It is very educational for younger kids and so much fun for oolder ones! I have shop withme barbie cash register and I still play with that! I really like this toy, it's fun no matter how long you have it. And it's easy to be kept organized!

The instructions are pathetic. The bank/ATM seems to have a mind of its own, automatically switching modes.

Younger kids will be fascinated because they give plastic playing cards, Barbie Bills and Coins, and it talks. This product needs some refinement.
