We saw this in Sea World and my 8 yr old loves to play with it. She generally loves Barbie (though she's not eager to admit this to her classmates) and to have one working with sea animals is more fun than just dress-up ones. The small animals and accessories make it worth the price. She is not an African-American but preferred this one because of the dark hair (she's not blond) and doll's skin tone looks like her tanned skin. Some of bodysuit's color came off/transferred when she left it on a heated towel bar to dry it, but it did not melt, so still good.
