The Denver person is wrong, the majority of chinese people are not dark skinned if they are it is because their skin have been tan. I should know because I'm chinese. I just got this doll yesterday and I think her face does look like most chinese people you will see in HK or Shanghai. Her hair and shoes are a little strange. I've never seen traditional hair styles like this before. Her shoes are not the kind of shoes worn with a traditional Mandarin dress. Overal I think she is worth the $20 bucks.

This doll is really beautiful and I enjoy it alot. It's being displayed in its box in my little girl's room. I noticed that previous reviews mentioned that this doll isn't a great representation of an asian doll, however, I find that otherwise. I'm Chinese and I think it's perfect the way it is! It's Barbie dressed in a traditional chinese outfit. I wouldn't expect it any more or less! If you are that concerned about the "authenticity" of how it should look [facially], then buy a *chinese* doll, not a _Barbie_.

Personally, I loved this doll the moment I set my eyes on it. It's very pretty and what I like best about it is the Kay Po. I like how Mattel remembered that Red and Gold are the colors that represent good luck in the Chinese culture. I also like the little Lai See that she's holding. It's so cute. Just like the picture suggests, the character, "<ç" means "Dog" hence, the Year of the Dog. :]

I agree that the Denver reviwer is totally out to lunch. This doll greatly resembles my daughter's friend Jenny Liu. Jeeny was born in Taiwan. Chinese people don't look any one way and to expect them to is racist, like saying they all look alike.
The hair ornaments are plastic but they do look good . The dress looks redder when you display her out of the box.Fabric quality is better than average for Mattel. Her hair is also much nicer and has more style than Mattel had been giving us. I think this doll bodes well for better things to come in this doll series.

I bought this doll for my 11 yr old daughter, who isn't quite ready to give up toys but doesn't want any baby dolls. She loves learning about other cultures also. This doll is beautiful, detailed and accessorized. The colors are rich and accurate. I almost wish my daughter collected them instead of played with them! Great doll for the price.

I bought this doll as soon as I saw her. I love everything about this doll, from the top of her head right down to her shoes!

I don't know what some of you are griping about...Why does everything have to be so politically correct and authentic? It's a fun collector doll, for crying out loud, not a museum exhibit for World Culture 101. I think imagination and creativity are key for fashion and this doll certainly has it all!

It looks way more expensive than it is, like something in the $34-$50 range. Get yours now, because I think it will sell out quickly for that reason.

My 3 year old absolutely loved this doll. Normally the clothes come off Barbie immediately, she loved this outfit so much it is actually still on the doll.

I bought this doll and have her stored in our closet to give to my daughter who is half Chinese and quarter Japanese/German. I myself am half Japanese and half German and have lived in Japan. I'd say that gives me enough credibility to say that this doll is a great representation of a beautiful Asian woman. When I flip through the television stations I see many a Asian woman of this beauty on the Chinese/Korean/Japanese channels. [...]

THIS IS A GORGEOUS BARBIE DOLL. I AM 67 YRS. OLD AND JUST STARTED COLLECTING BARBIES JULY OF THIS YEAR. I LOVE IT!
