I am a little disturbed by some of the reviews I'm reading about this doll's skin tone. First of all, all African Americans are NOT the same skin tone! I'm African American and I am about 3 or 4 shades lighter than this doll. My skin tone in the African American community, is what we consider "High Yellow." So I don't get all this business about her color not being "true" African American. People please know that there is no specific African American color. African American and Latino American's represent MANY shades of Brown. I'm talking from super "high yellow" to "ebony" dark and every beautiful shade in between.

She is a lovely doll. Great looking doll and a great asset to anyone's collection.

This doll is, in a word, gorgeous. My daughter received her as a gift, and she is really amazing--actually, her face sculpt is prettier than the caucasian version of the same doll, in my humble opinion. If you have questions about her skin tone, you can see my real-life photos.

The product packaging is really pretty, and we were able to debox her without messing up her gorgeous hair. However, I am beginning to see why some collectors prefer to leave their dolls in the boxes--let me just again state how elegant the packaging was.

Her gown is nicely made--red velvet with white faux fur trim--and has lots of details: black lace, a tiny black belt with a rhinestone buckle. And it falls just right in the front as well. She includes appropriately gaudy gold and rhinestone jewelry, too.

The doll herself has soft and sparkling make-up--very Christmas-y. She appears to be the model muse body (I think), and her knees do not bend. Not terrific for play, but my girls don't seem mind at all. She's really lovely.

This is indeed the African American Holiday Barbie from 2007. I'm not sure what the other reviews of this product are about, actually--if people are having issues reading product descriptions before they purchase an item, well... I can't help that. Personally, I think the time for debating skin tones is over. In my opinion, she is just gorgeous, and she belongs in every collector's collection.

Let me start by saying i picked her up at target for only $9.47. She is really pretty, with beautiful brown skin, I was a little confused by some of the other reviews it clearly says African American So why would you expect the Doll to be lighter or White, although the pic on the box is waaayyyy lighter than she really is ,anyways I would say her features are more african that african american, she is still very very pretty her gown is beautiful,if you collect holiday barbies pick her up.

From the picture it appears that the "skin" color is a dark tan or a few shades darker than the white version. When I received the doll she is a true African American skin type or color. It makes no difference to me or my daughter but if it does to others then you may want to choose the "white" version of this doll. I think this doll itself is beautiful but it is not accurately portrayed in the pictures on any of the web sites. The description does say African American but the skin tone looks more Hispanic or Asian and it is not; this is a true African American skin tone.

She is very pretty but African American. It would eliminate having to return the doll if they had originally described her as African American.

I am so grateful for the first review. I had no idea I had ordered the African-American doll! And thankfully, I caught it based on that review.
Actually, I thought she was prettier than the blonde, but when I looked at the close-up pictures, I did see her features. I will have to return her, but I have ordered the blonde one, and I do have time to get it before Christmas. As others have said BE CAREFUL!
