4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Mod Era reproduction doll
First, comparing this doll to a Silkstone doesn't make sense. Silkstones are a completely different category, and this doll shouldn't be compared to them. I also disagree with the other reviewer's assertion that the doll looks 'cheap'. I think the doll has a very high-quality look and feel. I purhased two of them, one to debox, so I've evaluated the doll thoroughly...

First, the doll is great. I'm not fond of the stiff bangs, but the face was done quite nicely. The squared shoulders are also not very attractive, but maybe that is how the original was made.

The bad thing about this doll is the clothing. I model dolls a lot and take pictures to display at various locations. The outfit on this doll is bulky and ungiving -...

First, comparing this doll to a Silkstone doesn't make sense. Silkstones are a completely different category, and this doll shouldn't be compared to them. I also disagree with the other reviewer's assertion that the doll looks 'cheap'. I think the doll has a very high-quality look and feel. I purhased two of them, one to debox, so I've evaluated the doll thoroughly.

My critiques are more based on how accurately the doll resembles the original 1968 Twist 'N Turn Barbie and All That Jazz fashion. The fashion is a little bit loose-fitting, but since I don't own the vintage fashion, I don't know how accurate that is. I think it's a lovely fashion, and the reproduction does seem to resemble photos I've seen very closely. It's certainly a lovely outfit.

The doll itself is beautiful, I love the translucent, luminous quality of the vinyl used for the head, and the face paint colors and placement are very accurate to the vintage dolls. The hair color and texture seems to closely match the sheen and color of the "Sun-Kissed" hair color available on the vintage doll. The hair ribbon is different from the type of ribbon used on the vintage doll, but that is a minor quibble.

My only issue with the Twist 'N Turn repro doll is the body. The arms aren't a perfect reproduction, and the legs have the blunted toes that are more similar to late 1980s dolls. I hope that Mattel starts using the body molds that are featured on the 2009 reproduction of the 1971 Malibu Barbie doll from the My Favorite Barbie series. That doll's body sculpting (and the tactile quality of the bendleg mechanism) are much closer to the original.

I also would love to see a reproduction of the 1970 fashion Maxi 'N Midi. I think it should be featured on a repro of the 1970 Dramatic New Living Barbie doll with Titian (red) hair. I would also like to see repros of 1967-1968 Twist 'N Turn Barbie with Summer Sand and Go-Go Co-Co hair colors. I would also like to see the 1969 "Marlo flip" Twist 'N Turn Barbie with platinum blonde hair. 1967-1970 Standard Barbie should also be reproduced, as well as Barbie's family and friend dolls.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the Love of Barbie!, January 4, 2009

I purchased this doll when it first came out in 2006, and although I didn't have this one when I was a kid this would have been one of my favorites. Most of my dolls and clothes were all stolen when I was 11, and the rest destroyed by flooding so I cherish any late 60s early 70s reproductions Mattel can come up with. This Doll "All that Jazz "is a wonderful reproduction from 1968, and the details that were created down to the real eyelashes on the doll are amazing! You can't go wrong if you can find her still!

I guess if you compare her to some of the Silkstone models maybe she is plain, but really when we were young weren't we happy with our dolls before they become collector items. People still buys these for their children and they are happy with them. "All that Jazz" shouldn't be compared to Silkstone as that is a totally different type of doll. (But that is just my opinion)

Mattel your awesome (I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Intrigue #1470 with a Stacy doll model Long red hair please tied at the side) and possibly Maxi `n Midi #1799 with what doll? I'll let you guys decide....

This is a beautiful platinum blonde TNT repro from 1968 with an outfit that really resonates with the late 60s mod craze. The colors are incredibly bright, crisp, cheerful and with lots of good vibe going on.

I am so pleased with my purchase of Mattel's All That Jazz reproduction Mod era Barbie Doll. Thank you for my order. It was delivered just as I expected it to be: In exellent condition! A wonderful addition to my current Barbie doll collection. I hope Mattel will continue to recreate more dolls in the Mod era, for they are the most beautiful dolls on the market today. Today's Barbies lack quality control, and are not as pleasing to the eye like the dolls of byegone eras. The rooted eyelashes are an outstanding addition to this beautiful doll. It is like owning a piece of treasured history.

The box art is lovely, and I like how it has the clear inner lid for those who like to display their dolls in the box. However, I like to remove mine from the box. Perhaps a big no-no for a collector but I buy them to enjoy them, not for an investment, and this is the way I like them. Different strokes, you know?

I love the color on this Twist n Turn Barbie. She's beautiful, and her outfit is gorgeous too. But the factory did a terrible job with the back of her hair. It's rather ragged and uneven. The hair on My Favorite 1967 Twist n Turn Barbie is much more even. Thankfully it was not too difficult to fix it and she's hanging out in my display cabinet with her titian repro pal in the Zokko! outfit. I really wish Mattel would also lay off the stuff they use to shellac the Barbies' hair. It doesn't look nice at all. They need to rethink the style of stand as well. It doesn't really work to hold up the doll, unless you unsnap her dress in the back. I'll probably pick up different stands.

But otherwise I'm having so much fun gathering up some old favorites! I'll definitely be looking for the other Gold Box reproductions.

The bad thing about this doll is the clothing. I model dolls a lot and take pictures to display at various locations. The outfit on this doll is bulky and ungiving - it was hard to get a cute close up picture with or without the jacket. The other repro's like the Made for You and the Smasheroo were much better made.

If you were a child in the late 60's , this is another chance to play or display one of your all time favourite Barbie dolls wearing a classic mod outfit. You will feel like being 8 years all over again :)
