5.0 out of 5 stars mom of 4
this product is great.I bought it for my 2 year old 4 days ago and she has not stopped playing with it since. My 7 year old can not stay away from the thing either! The sound is VERY clear, and it seems to be quite durable. It may even be around when my 6 month old is ready to play with it.As for the price I did shop around and got it for about 30 dollars less. Love this toy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Happy at all!!!
I thought this was the perfect kitchen when I saw it online. My five year old wants one very much, so I had Grandma order it. After seeing it in the toysrus I am taking it back. My daughter had to get on her knees to play with it. It is very small and not very practical. I will say it is built for a 2 year old but in the mind of a 5-12 yr old. A very smart kitchen,...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent toy for our 2 year old girl, March 22, 2004

This barbie kitchen has been great for our kid. It comes with an entire 'Thanksgiving dinner'. The food has microchips in the pieces that sense when they are placed onto the cooktop, or in the oven, or microwave. Barbie's voice comes on and helps the child 'cook' the food in the appropriate ways: "great, you chose to cook the broccoli. Set the timer to 15 and press start."

We also bought two sets of extra food that included pizza, raviolis, garlic bread, cheeseburgers, fries, watermelon, katsup, mustard, and a bunch of other things. This toy has been used for many, many hours, and is still going strong. Other reviewers have mentioned it's low height. I suspect our girl will grow out of it in several years. But she is thrilled to get involved with cooking and have so many ways to cook things.

If you can afford this toy, get it. [...] And, if you're lucky enough to find the accessory sets, get those, too. [...]

Thanks for reading this review!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a "kitchen" just an "oven", December 7, 2004

I bought this for my 4 yr old girl and she loved it until she finally realized it's missing most of the kitchen. It's great but I'm disappointed because it could be the very best kitchen on the market if it was truly a "kitchen" and not just an oven and if it were bigger. I say it's just an oven because that's all it is. A kitchen has a sink, refridgerator, counters, and cabinets in which THIS one has NONE. Now she's asking santa for a REAL kitchen this year; the one by Step 2 that has everything that a kitchen has and looks like a real kitchen too! Which is the same one I tried to persuade her into choosing instead of the Barbie one but her mind was set on Barbie at the time. Besides the flaws of this oven, it is very cute, works very well still, no problems with it in terms of it actually working or anything breaking, and it comes with a lot of good accessories.

I got this toy for my three year old daughter. She loves it, and hasn't stopped playing with it yet! The only problem is the side table. It fell off but I fixed it. I would get it!! X-specially if you have a little cook in the house!

5.0 out of 5 stars Only Toy A Kid Ever Needs, October 29, 2004

It is every young kids dream to cook. Every young kid would love to cook dinner for mommy and daddy or to make yummy cookies for their friends. They want to be just like the adults! And with the Barbie Cook With Me Smart Kitchen then can have all the fun of a real kitchen minus the mess. I remember play kitchens were always so much fun as I was growing up. The Barbie Cook with Me Smart Kitchen has every aspect of the kitchen a young kid dreams of cooking in; the oven with all of the knobs; a microwave; the burners; the silverware. Your kids will spend all their time making you plastic meals! It is a great way to spend time with your child and it is a heck lot better then watching TV! Kids never get bored with this toy because just like a real kitchen there are so many possibilities! Play food is cheap too so you can always add more to your collection. This is a great gift for any little girl for any occasion!

I bought this product last Christmas for my 3 1/2 yr. old daughter. It was a last minute gift. I was thrilled with it when I saw it. My daughter wanted to have kitchen sets (like the big plastic ones) but unfortunately we have little space in our house for the big ones. So, when I saw how compact this is and different from the others, I bought it. She loved it when she opened it. Including her 1 1/2 yr old brother is crazy about it too. One thing though, it's kind of hard to find for the other extra breakfast, lunch, dinner sets. But I was in luck when I saw the breakfast and lunch set. I just had to buy it just in time to give her for her bday. We're still missing the dinner set, but I'm sure I'll be able to find one before her b-day next month. Overall, great toy. I like playing with it myself. I just hope that the manufacturer will make more food sets so that the little ones will not get tired of the sets that comes with it after a while.

people are paying way too much for this kitchen. I found it at wal mart for 60 dollars. It is a good toy but I would never pay 100 dollars for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Wish We Had Toys Like This!, December 29, 2003

My daughter received the Barbie Cook With Me Smart Kitchen for Christmas and needless to say it was her favorite gift. The kitchen uses play food containing a smart chip which when placed anywhere in or on one of the cooking appliances is recognized by Chef Barbie. Table manners, place setting, and how to wash up and clean up before and after dinner respectively are taught. Barbie talks to your little chef on the screen-it is so cute! The kitchen came with so many accessories -even a salt and pepper shaker and a pair of tongs. My daughter absolutely loves it. If I could change one thing it would be the height-my daughter is average size for a four year old and she stands about a head taller than the kitchen. She says that I don't sit when I cook so why should she have to :)

My 8 year old daughter wanted this kitchen for Christmas and loves it.....although it is very small. A taller kitchen would really be helpful. Also, she got tired of the few foods that came with it pretty quickly, but I can't find the additional food kits ANYWHERE!! I tried calling the manufacturer directly and they told me they should be available at Wal-Mart....but I've looked and they are nowhere to be found. Help?

If your child is 6 and up....you may want to consider putting it on a small table or finding a kitchen more suited to an older child. Great idea.....just give us the accessories!
