This camera will only work when connected to your computer. If you want to use it handheld, tough luck. It is a medioker quality camera(but what can you expect fron Barbie?) The editing software is pretty good. But you are limited to only a few backround pictures. The camera does not have a screen to look through, it is just like an ordinary camera, which I found quite disapointing. Overall, this product is pretty good for Barbie items, but if you want a really good digital camera, get a Nikon or something better than Barbie.

I bought this product Barbie Photo Designer for my niece and needed to obtain support for the software and find drivers for the camera, the CD warped in the sun...Kids! Anyway after two days of searching and wild goose chases, I found that Mattel Interactive has gone under and Mattel Customer Service will not respond to my email requests for support.

We bought the camera for my five year old daughter. She loves it. It is easy to use - easy to install. The picture quality is not great - but perfectly fine for a child. More educational than a regular camera!

Every Christmas wish list my 4.5 yr/old daughter made included a Barbie Camera. Knowing she didn't have the patience for a film camera and an instant camera could be expensive, the Barbie Digital camera seemed the best choice. She loved it! Thanks to the experience of other reviewers, I was able to load the software and hook up the camera without too much trouble. She runs around the house taking pictures of whatever she wants and gets the immediate feedback when we upload them. She doesn't care about the low resolution and I don't care how often she cuts my head off when taking my picture. A flash would have been nice as it limits indoor picture taking during the winter. The simplicity of this camera might make it unappealing to older children, but it's great for younger ones.

This is the best toy my 4 year old daughter received for Christmas. It is wonderful for her age. The software program lets her delete, edit and print the pictures she has taken. It is really a great value for the price. We were going to get her a little more expensive digital camera but she really wanted a Barbie one so this was perfect. The pictures aren't the clearest and don't print out with the best quality but she loves it and I don't have to pay a fortune for film and developing. She also gets instant gratification being able to see the pictures on the computer right away.

We were given this camera for free with our new computer. It is the first experience we've had with a digital camera. The pictures are a little blurry and grainy, but, what did we expect for free? We had no trouble with the uploads at all. The camera was up and running in a matter of seconds. I particularly like the export feature, which allows you to put your pictures into e-mail and other projects. It is, I believe, a very good camera for a young girl to learn multimedia savvy.
Editing is easy. It is a lot of fun.

I may have another evaluation if I could see at least on picture. I installed everything as directed in the manual. Unfortunately the pictures would not upload to the PC. Then I went to the user manual and it told me to redirect my COM port settings for this (...) camera. I tried for hours for the sake of my daughter. Then I called technical support and was unable to reach them. Yikes.

I'm returning the camera.

This camera was a big waste of money. Like the test families and one other reviewer, we were never able to view pictures on our 6 month old Dell computer. The camera now sits in a toybox and is used infrequently as a "pretend" camera. I suggest buying your child a refurbished or used digital camera instead of wasting your money on the barbie version.

this camera does a great job of teaching young and old how to operate a digital camera. Had fun playing with camera and cd and Barbie Digital Makeover cd...with my 3 granddaughters. One is really interested in taking photos (she is l0) and really enjoyed learning how to operate these things. Not a great quality photo, but for the price, is great fun and a great learning tool.

The appearance of this camera will appeal to girls (it did to my daughter) but the resolution is so poor you can't get a good picture. For girls the image editor will let them put what looks like them into a picture with Barbie, and they will find that fun...
