This book has a couple of pictures in the front. And the rest are complete and extense lists (vintage & modern dolls and accesories). But the prices are usually not accurate. And to be honest there is no actual good price list to apply to the second market barbie. You pay what you want and can afford. So, it is completely useless to have this book, since 1- It only contains names (no pictures) so it is hard to identify something unless it is NRFB - (in which case you don't need to because it says what it is on the box). 2- The prices are unrealistic.

This is a great reference for the Barbie collector. The main part of the book is a listing including number issued, date, value and source store (where applicable) for each item issued from 1959-1998.

Items listed include Barbie and Ken dolls, friends (Francie, Skipper, etc.) dolls, doll outfits, accessories and Barbie collectibles. Most items are listed in alphabetical, stock # and year order.

There are nearly 50 pages of color photos of a wide variety of Barbies, friends and accessories. I especially enjoyed the section on Enesco ceramic collectibles.

This is the best guide to Barbie collectibles that I have seen. The organization and multiple listings make everything easy to find and a pleasure to use.

I purchased this book to help with my collection values and was disappointed to find most of the 98 and 99 Barbies not listed..I have some older ones and couldn't find a lot of them..If you are going to put out a book to cover up to 1999 it should have the 99 dolls and accessories listed..If not then don't put a book out that doesn't cover the items the company makes...and prices were not consistent with todays market...

I read the other reviews of this book, and it sounded like it was a good bet. What the other reviews DIDN'T say is that this book is only for those who have New In The Box items! For the average collector who finds dolls in antique malls and garage sales, this is worthless. It only prices items that are unopened in original boxes - perfect mint condition! There are no prices for any other condition level. Also there are virtually NO pictures, making it impossible to use to identify various models . Several reviewers made a big point of there being 50 pages of pictures(actually in the 5th edition it's only 29 pages, 3-6 photos per page, most are of only a single item). Only a handful of Barbies are pictured, with the rest of the pictures being other special items. So if you have one of those typical dolls found in a sale that doesn't have a box with a model number, good luck trying to figure out what you have. This book is worthless for trying to identify which Barbie you are holding, and there is no information at all in the book about identifying the knock-off copies of Barbie on the market. It is strictly a price list by year or model number, with no other information of any kind. If everything you have has boxes with model numbers, the other reviews are right - it's a good book with a VERY comprehensive listing - over 9,000 different items (see why 100 photos is no big deal?!). But if your Barbies are unidentified and in less than store shelf condition, forget it. This book is, a waste of time and money.

This book was just not accurate in its pricing. I have a substantial collection and the price are generally exaggerated making the novice think they'd actually get some of those prices, which in most cases you wouldn't. It was unclear to me whether these were prices to expect at auction or prices to insure the dolls. I laughed out loud when I saw that he valued dream date barbie higher than dream date PJ. In the real world PJ gets more, so I'd like to know where this guy did his research. On the upside it did have quite a good list of dolls so if were so inclined you could see how many different themes of dolls are out there but all in all I'd say don't waste your money.

One of the most comprehensive Barbie Doll guides around. This book contains over 300 pages, including 156 full color sharp photos grouped in the front of the book. The main listing covers nearly 16,000 entries of dolls and accessories!! It indicates dolls, outfits, accessories, books, cases, catalogs, electronics, furniture, games, gift sets, jewelry, records and vehicles, and much more. Each entry includes the item number, date, value and any special information. An easy reference to use, up-to-date to 1999. The book's price is a good value for the amount of information provided.

I now own the last three editions of this Patrick Olds book. It is an excellent guide for tracking information on Barbie and her family of dolls, clothing, and misc. collectables. This book includes info on items from 1959 to 2000. I find it invaluable in guiding me on values during auctions and other purchases.

This book is exactly what it says - a comprehensive review and has an amazing amount of information. This book is perfect for those collectors who still have the doll or product with the original packaging and want an approximate value of that doll or product. The dolls/products are listed by the "title" of the product, i.e. Millenium Bride. What it does not have is alot of pictures.

If you are trying to find out what a particular doll is and/or the value - and all you have is the doll - this is not the best book for the task.

I had a huge box of Barbies from various years. This book helped to identify them. I also recommend a fun read about dolls, Dolls Aren't Just for Kids.

I love this book, I buy the updated version everytime it comes out. Easy listings so that I can keep track of the value of my collection
