The word "Ge Ge" was used to address a princess in the Qing Dynasty. This princess almost resembles a real Ge Ge. This doll has lovely face paint, and she has such a sweet smile! She even comes with pedestal shoes. Only Manchurian women and women in the palace wear such shoes. Her qipao (her gown) has lovely golden locus and dragon patterns on it. She wears a headdress with lovely pink flowers and a golden phoenix. The only thing Mattel should've added were two red long tassles, one on each side of the headdress where the flowers are. I've heard that according to Qing Dynasty dress codes, a princess has those on her headdress, and she also wears a white scarf around her neck so that people (servants, soldiers, etc) can tell that she is related to the Emperor. (Maids also wear similar headresses, but with one tassle). Nevertheless, this doll is still very beautiful. Mattel has done a much better job with this doll than it is has with other DOTW (Dolls of the World) oriental dolls.

I was amazed to see such excellent workmenship on this doll, not only did she wear an authentic gown of the Qing era and fun to look at but, on the back of her box there's a short story about "The Qing Dynasty", a good educational touch for the children or even the grown ups LoL=(laughing out loud). Doll dosen't look like your common facial featured barbie doll. Her face seem's almost porcelain like, though her eye's are not chinese looking enough, still the doll is beautiful!!.
Even though is for children I bought this doll for my collection since the box she comes in is also stunning (A must for a collector). I wouldn't really recommend this doll to any child from the ages 5 and under since it has small parts (eg: earings)very easy to swollow. I rated the durability of this items a 5 star since I don't play with the doll only for displaying. Not sure how it would hold up in a child's hand perhaps "Good"?.

This is a very pretty doll. Her costume and Hairdo replicates the syle of royalty in the dynasty era. She has beautiful earrings. I was disappointed she didn't have under garments. All in all a wonderful aquisition.

Her dress is beautiful, such a lovely pattern! Her headdress is gorgeous as well. Her features are pretty, but should look a bit more Asian, rather than Caucasian, imo. This is supposed to be a Chinese princess, after all! But the doll is really gorgeous and I love having her on display!

This is going to upset a lot of people, but I'm still an American - here's my humble opinion: Haven't you collectors (people who drive up the price of dolls to small fortunes) ever seen Toy Story?! Toys are not meant to be displayed, but rather played with. Hence the category TOYs. "Here's a doll, sweetheart, but you musn't touch - and for gosh-sakes, don't handle the box!" If we are affluent enough to be able to afford dolls for our kids, then by all means, take them out of the box and let a kid play with it. In explanation; I was appalled at the exorbitant prices last year on ebay for simple, used black baby dolls. I was just trying to fill a box of toys for a small African village - little did I know I was entering a *Collector arena*... Not one of those used doll babies was reasonably priced. I knew enough, of course, not to even approach the black Barbies... This Asian Barbie will be a fine TOY. OK, I'm done.

this is an great Barbie....it show how ancient Chinese dressed....now they need babies from all regions of the world
