I purchased the DVD and the remote for my 7 yo daughter today. The remote has to be programmed using your DVD remote. This should be a 5 second process but took a good five minutes for it to finally program. Once it was finally programmed we tried playing the games on the DVD. First we went to Fairytopia, using the remote. No problem. Then we had to cross the wall of bubbles. The remote is completely ineffective. We even tried using the DVD remote, and it was also ineffective. So, it is impossible to go to Fairytopia gameland under the mini game selection.

Then we tried the Bibble dancing game. Yeah, the remote works alright....but the response of the remote is so highly unpredictable. It might work or it might not. The Barbie has to be waved repeatedly for it to work sometimes. Other times it works just fine. Yes, we paid attention to our distance from the DVD player and aimed the Barbie correctly. There's no such thing as repeating the steps of Bibble quickly. The DVD remote works just fine for this game....the Barbie remote is too unreliable. Save the $24.99 and buy some other Barbie item. The only good thing about the remote is that the wings on Barbie do flap. But, I think it is possible to purchase a Barbie at a cheaper price with flapping wings.

If anyone figures out how to cross the wall of bubbles let us know.

We finally bought these Barbie Magic of the Rainbow dolls for our 4-year-old twin daughters after hearing them beg for it repeatedly after each time the commercial aired. At first, they were very excited to play with them. Positives: The doll is durable. It encourages participants to follow instructions. Negatives: I notice my daughters have to wave the doll a few times before the DVD "hears" the instructions.

Positives: The DVD provides clear and easy to understand directions, so your doll can be programmed with your remote control. Negatives: The doll set off our fire alarm a few times before we figured out it was the doll (and we did check to see if there really was a fire!) When the DVD is not in, the dolls control the volume on the TV! This can be very annoying when the volume increases just as you realize your daughters have started playing with the dolls. My suggestion: de-program the doll when your kids are finished playing the DVD! Or, just keep it deprogrammed and use your remote -taking all control away from your kids and keeping them from standing so close to the TV!

doll is very hard to program ,the instructions are clear, but they don't come with a list of compatible dvd players,, the only thing i could get the doll to do was change the tv channel to 11...so i told the kids to use the dvd remote to play the game,, and it only works during a couple of screens,, no response in the bibble game..barbie owes me a favor,,i am glad i bought it on clearance,, because if i paid full price i would be seriously upset,,,doesn't anyone test these toys sold to kids today..

This product never even worked for us. My daughter got it for Christmas in 2010 and it was a total waste.

Well, I tried to get the dumb Barbie doll to work, but no matter how hard you try, it doesn't register. Then I realized you have to have a compatible DVD player to have it to work. The problem with this is that the product does not warn you that you need a certain DVD player to play. Anyway, looking at the back of the case, there are only three little mini-games and it actually advertises that there is up to thirty minutes of gameplay. This is a waste of $25. Find another Barbie with flapping wings if you have to.

I bought this not knowing that you needed a special Barbie to play the game. I found the Barbie and wouldn't you know it, my granddaughter took it in the bathtub with her and now the Barbie doesn't work!!
