I have never purchased a Barbie product...until now. I simply couldn't resist "Barbie & Tanner". I love this! God bless America!
Does this toy teach young girls moral lessons about the responsibilities of pet ownership and the importance of cleaning up their mess? Or, is the feces-eating devil dog teaching impressionable young kids that its ok to consume their own excrement? Who knows, and who cares. I'm sure the kids will enjoy it. I bought two. I gave one to the Toys for Tots drive, and plan on keeping the other for myself.. I can't wait to show the gang at work!

I bought this Barbie to be part of a collection I have had for MANY years. Luckily I purchased two of them so I could open and "play" with one of them. I took the opened Barbie and Tanner to my classroom...and you guessed it...the kids loved it!! Even the boys. Now the really interesting thing is that my students are not little kids...they are high school students. I teach art at a public high school and I do bring interesting things into class to spark creativity, so having a Barbie and her dog on my desk was not all that unusual. What I did find unusual was that boys in the class would ask me if they could take it from my desk "to check it out."

I would say that this was a good purchase even if all the enjoyment I get from it is a chuckle every now and then from watching a high school football player scoop the little metal poops while trying to keep Barbie on her toes!

this doll is hillarious. my six year old daughter loves barbie and HAD to have the "pooping dog". everyone poos....so do animals....isn't it teaching kids to be responsible and pick up your pets poo so others don't have to step in it? don't most states have pooper scooper laws? anyway, it's not like it's real poo, they are little brown magnetic pellets that look like tic tacs. parts are small so be careful with smaller children. barbie and dog are great!

Tanner not only poops, but he eats his own poop!! totally energy efficient dog.
I bought this for my niece and I can tell you we had hours, if not days of fun.
I only wish I bought an extra and kept it in the box to give her when she is 30 years old for a big laugh.

first of all, i am so anti barbie and just dread when someone buys my 5 year old daughter a barbie doll. getting barbie out of its package is a task in itself (with all the twist ties, tape, strings etc...) uuugggghhhh, and of course all the tiny little parts always get lost! my husband likes to refer to this as landfill junk. this is the first barbie anyone has given her that i actually get a kick out of. okay, its a little weird that the dog eats and then poops but my daughter is not grossed out by it and knows its just pretend. so you poor these little pellets out of the dog food container (provided) into the dog bowl (provided). you then put each piece one by one in the dogs mouth and he swallows them. then you turn his head and wag the tail and POOP! then barbie has a little poop picker upper stick that is magnetic and you pick up the pellets one by one and insert them into the trash can (provided) that happens to have the dog food container attached to it. so the poop goes in the trash can (use your imagination here) but it really goes back into the food container which is then ready to feed the dog again! get it? enlarge the picture so you can see the setup and use your imagination. i will have to say, i would only buy this toy for a more mature child or 5+ years of age. i did have to explain to my daughter that we do NOT eat poop and its 'pretend' and she totally gets it and is having so much fun with it. normally when we get a barbie out of the box it is played with for a day and then never touched again. i will have to say that this particular one has been around for weeks and my daughter is STILL playing with it all the time. this barbie comes with the barbie, dog, poop stick, poop (hee hee), bowl, food container, trash can, dog mat and some little dog toys.

A Kid's Review on December 30, 2006
I saw this in stores last year, and loved it. I've waited for the price to lower, but it still stood it's place. So I gave in and bought it. I didnt regret it even for a bit. I read the reviews from here, and thought, wow. Pooping dog???!!!! SO CUTE.

So i got it on my To-Buy list, and bought it with the money mom gave me. I quickly got home, and opened the box. Loved it to bits! At first, I thought that the mouth was stuck. But then i pried it open with my fingers, and the "lifting-the-tail" worked! I was so happie! Tanner has a very very soft fur. Not the kind of quality it has on Barbie's hair, but the kind of cute, fuzzy ones.

When I make Tanner eat the dog treats, the treats automatically makes a "tok!" sound, asuring me that the treat is saftely in her stomach. One thing though- When you move her head when she has treats in it, "poo" will come out. It was hilarious!

The "carpet" provided is just plain carpet. But It did'nt really suprise me. Since Mattel is, alittle Cardboard obssesed.

OKay back to Barbie-- Barbie wears a cream brown capris, purple long sleved doggie shirt in side, and a small jacket out side. She has white and blue sneakers, and her makeup is very light. Barely visible, very smooth looking. Oh ya, and she has a belt oh her capris! Very trendy! Her hair is very smooth, and light.
