I had this game when I was a kid and it has appeared and disappeared in all the years since. Now that I am a (pretty old) mom of girls ten and seven, I was excited to see it rereleased, and though the graphics are 1960s vintage, my girls LOVE it, and so do I! The board is fun and nicely designed. Every space has an instruction or message, with detours for school, boyfriends/dates, odd jobs to earn money, school clubs, shopping, etc. In addition there are surprise cards, money, and cards with the boyfriends, dresses and schools clubs you acquire. There are plenty of random events as well as chances to choose, so it is a game of luck and skill. There are opportunities to use basic arithmetic and intermediate reading skills, as well as strategy, but non-readers can play it with mom or older siblings without detriment to the game. My ten-year-old even played it with a manly but non-sexist 5-year-old boy and they had a blast!

I think I thought I was buying a remake of "mystery date". It's clear that most girls in the 50's had low expectations both of what "fun" was and about chosing your man. I bought this for my 6 year old and her favorite thing about it is the pastel colored dice.

Unless you clearly remember the original game and thought it was the bomb, don't waste your money.

Instructions can be vague. We got barbies and dresses to add to the fun. It can take a long time because the dice only goes to 4 getting around the board seems to take forever one player kept getting sent to the home without ever getting past the first turn. we will ignore the go back homes in the future.
Can be fun but improvise.

A friend of mine had her mother's original 1961 version of this game. We would play it every time I visited her house. I found this version a couple of years ago. My daughter loves to play it now. It is is a fun, classic board game.

I played this game with my five year old niece on Christmas Day '07.
It was the highlight of the day.
She opened it & wanted to play it immediately!
I'd played it approximately 30+ years ago & had remembered it very well
as a very fun game.
My niece was immediately learning math,
dealing with the harsh reality :) of not having enough money for
the exact dress she wanted to buy & waiting til she earned more money.
The funniest part that we still talk about was that she was NOT amused that she ended up with "boyfriend" Poindexter (a boy with light orange hair & small eyes).She wanted Ken. Ahem. My disclaimer would be..that you'd have to have a talk with the players that you don't have to have a boyfriend in real life in order to win the game of life..but in this game it is required before winning. It's a very fun game.. a replica of the original.

My girls and their friends love this game and Amazon was quick in the processing and shippng.

I absolutely LOVED this game when I was a little girl. I bought it for my granddaughter for Christmas so that we can share in the fun...I can't wait to play it again!

The Barbie Queen of the Prom game was for my granddaughter's birthday. She found my old game from when I was her age and loved playing it. It was great beiing able to get her one of her own.

My wife has this as a child and wanted it. We've had big silly fun playing it. Good harmless fun.

This game is wonderful! My mom played it when she was little then brought it out for us to play when we were younger. It was misplaced when we moved so we found it online and got it. It brought back so many memories and laughter. It seems to be like real life with trying to find a boyfriend, make money, buy a dress, be president of a club then go to the prom. As in, you work towards a goal and there are many obsticales that slow you down, but help you learn from them. I know it's just a game, but it's a wonderful game! (And it's good clean fun, which seems to be difficult to find these days.)
