Product Description

From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"

This program lets kids choreograph 3D dance routines for Barbie and her five new international friends. Girls can choose outfits for the characters, decorate the stage, choreograph and then watch Barbie and her friends perform the dance. Unfortunately, the creativity tools are difficult to figure out, and getting the dancers to do what you want can be a frustrating experience. The program lacks responsivity as well, with lots of lost clicks. In addition to choreographing dances, kids can create a "personality page" for an onscreen scrapbook. This activity is very weak, with too few choices of artwork and no text options. Try Lego Friends instead.

Product Description

Amazon.com Review Not too many software packages will have you jumping and spinning, but that's what Barbie Gotta Groove is all about. Work with Barbie and her gal-pals Tori, Nichelle, Ana, and Chelsie (plus set designer Lara) to make cool clothes, rockin' stages, and swinging dance routines, then put them all together for the big show. Get creative on the dance floor with hip-hop, salsa, and other styles--once you've got the virtual girls going, you can try the moves out yourself! The interface is supereasy--for the most part, pointing and clicking is all that you need to do. The CD works in stereos, too, so even if you're not around a computer you can practice your jams. Use the Barbie Digital Camera (not included) to put yourself in the action--make CD covers or your own personality page! You can save your favorite outfits and dance pieces and watch them again and again, plus you can challenge yourself by watching a dance and then playing back the moves in just the right order. If you want, you can even compete with your friends to see who's got the right moves.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great way to learn how to dance, November 30, 1999
By A Customer

This item is a great way to learn to dance. I dance myself and this is amazing. if you want your kid to not only learn to dance but share what she learned with her friends, this is great. My daughter is 7 and she is lovin it!(even if she already takes dance lessons, she could share it with her teacher)

2.0 out of 5 stars Barbie trips up on this one, February 21, 2000
This review is from: Barbie Gotta Groove (Generation Girl) (CD-ROM)
I'm a big fan - along with my 4 nieces - of the Barbie video games. (We own 5 or 6 of them between us.) But this time Mattel missed the mark. You must be very careful of the system requirements before you purchase this game. It crashed one computer and brought another to a standstill, constantly locking up the program. (Yes, we were above the minimum system requirements with the second computer.) The choices for clothing and stage setting are limited and not fully interchangeable. Most of the dances were one move repetitions once they got into presentation. The speaking parts were halting and the movements were either jerky or sluggish. We may have had a bad CD, but I don't think so. Gamers, buy this one with caution.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Fun, Fun, January 30, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Barbie Gotta Groove (Generation Girl) (CD-ROM)
This game is loads of fun. I should know, since I got it for Christmas. I am 9 years old, and I play this agame everyday. In the game, you can design the clothes, pick out props, chose the Gen Girls that you want to dance, and also chose their dance moves. I played this game for a whole 6 hours one day. I just couldn't stop since it is so much fun! This game is probably for kids ages 7 and up. I would reccommend that you buy this game. You won't ever want to stop playing once you start!
